This is the CVS Coupon Discussion thread for questions, scenarios & chat for all coupons (including Manufacturers) that can be used at CVS.

This is the only thread due to the fact another thread that had CVS coupons only turned into a begging thread and was full of abuse.

I used both tonight -- no beeps. Had about $26-$28 in my transaction... didn't know if the $5 was a x/xx coupon or not.
Thanks, repped.

Please, folks, let's start posting complaints about the SCO on CVS's facebook page. I just did one. I really don't mind going to a real cashier, but it can be a huge hassle to do so at these stores that have converted almost entirely to SCO.

Anyone know if the $2/2 deodorant CRT rings up as a CVS coupon or CVS MFR coupon? TIA!!

I second this - I have a special facebook just for slickdeals and I know a lot of people do here too. I'm going to post now. Again, for areas where the stores are almost entirely SCO, it really is oppressive. Furthermore, while some stores have a SCO aide, not all of them do, so it's going to be impossible for some of us to do deals in a timely maner. Does CVS really want everyone with a lot of coupons going to the pharmacy counter? As someone who gets my scrips filled at CVS, I don't. Finally, like it or not, SCO's are the wave of the future, and if you think this issue doesn't matter to you because you don't have SCO, it's only a matter of time before it does. More and more stores in my area are implementing SCO. I realize CVS might lose money because someone scans a CRT for the wrong item or uses a similar family code coupon (although I do not advocate or do these things), but they also save a ton of money by having SCO in the first place - no wages, no benefits EVER, so I can't imagine people using the wrong CRT or coupon is killing them.
Finally, there is another solution: there are 3 type of coupons that can beep. As I already said, ECB's have little potential for abuse, and I doubt family code Q abuse is that widespread or that they care enough especially when they get reimbursed for many of these, so the obvious solution instead of this mess is -
Code CRT's differently so they don't fly through on everything. I didn't even know they did until recently, but that's the real problelm as I see it, or even code ECB's differently and just require intervention for CRT's.

Should have checked this thread before posting in chat. Just did a few transactions at SCO in DC. Any EB $2 or more required assistance. EBs <$2 went through fine. My MQs were <$2 and went through without assistance.

Then the latest sco upgrade varies by store ( no surprise ) , my transaction was four $1/1 mqs on four $1.50 items, all identical. 2nd mq required assistance.

I picked up (5) Medicare Part "D" packets (the one with the 20% off coupon on the back), this morning and would like to ROAK them to folks here on SD. I also have (2) Extraordinary Savings Program certificates w/ the 20% pass and the $3/$15 attached. (Must sign up by 11/30/12.) ES passes are already gone. I'll try to get more tonight.

PM me!

You must have at least 50 posts to your name though so if you just signed up, don't PM me. shake head

I can clip the coupons out and get them in the mail tomorrow morning. Smilie

Thanks for trying all! I will avoid SCO until we hear a report of them working normally. My current thought is that it will end up annoying the SCO attendants so much that their complaints (possibly coupled with customers') might help get it changed back...?

Same story with the store I like - they have 4 SCO and maybe one cashier. Typically the only time there's a regular cashier is when it's busier, and I tend to avoid going at busy times anyway.
I went to a sco cvs today, 3 orders to do, cart loaded to the gills, one cashier open, 3 sco lanes. I knew already it would be an endless beep fest with all my ecb's, so I got in line for the cashier. The line got 6 deep behind me, even though the time on my last receipt was only 4 minutes from my first, and they had to open 2 more lines - and the whole time, no one is using sco - nobody at all. They'll either have to fix the sco system or be rid of it, because as long as all their promos are centered on ecb's, if ecb's won't work at sco, lots of people like me will stop bothering with it.

Yeah, I think at this point the SCO change is experimental from CVS's viewpoint. Hopefully if we all express our opinions to CVS, they'll make a change.

I did some experimenting myself today and went to 3 different stores with SCO and tried to use cashiers. Lets just say that story short they were all pretty bad experiences for various reasons. Only 1 /3 cashiers seemed to know what she was doing, but she decided to still check me out at SCO since most of these stores don't like using the regular registers. Glad I made it through but this it was not the same fun CVSing.

Hey All, Here's a template I made to express our unhappiness with the SCO change. Please feel free to use it or build upon it:

“Thank you for offering us the chance to check out on a convenient self-service check out machine.

However, a recent change to the machines has made it impossible to check out in a timely or convenient manner. Scanning coupons, including ones from the wonderful Extra Care program, now requires an override from a cashier after scanning each and every coupon.

Please change the machines back so that coupons can be scanned without intervention, so that we can all get back to checking out in a timely and efficient manner.”
