Can the coupon be used at multiple stores/multiple times, or does Borders keep note of personal information concerning who has used a coupon already?

I always use the coupons multiple times in stores and they don't say anything.

I frequently go to 3 different Borders on the same day and nothing happens. I don't think any store's registers are set up to keep track of coupons like that, even though they say 1 coupon per customer during the time period.

i get bitched at for using a coupon more than once . it does say Single-use only: One coupon or promo code per customer during the valid period.. i had a cashier tell me once that when you use your rewards card it keeps track and can tell when you use a specific coupon.

Did you try to use it twice in the same store? I'm pretty sure they can't track how many times you use it, at least, electronically. I worked at B&N for the last 5 years and we didn't have any way to track coupon use. I can't imagine Borders does. Plus sometimes I'd let people use more than one coupon because they could technically walk out and then back in and say it was a separate trip. It just wasn't worth it to hassle people.

i got accused of using the same coupon when i hadnt. it was a different 33% off one that started the next day after one had ended. i dont buy books much anymore, so i just use them on a coffee drink in the cafe. anyways, she bitched at me and said i had used it before and the system keeps track when you scan the rewards card and the coupon... it will show up. i pointed out that the coupon started that day and she's wrong. she shut up and made my drink after that .

I think you just had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a crabby employee. I worked in retail for almost a decade and I'll never for the life of me understand why employees give customers a hard time over coupons - if you can make them happy and the register will let you apply it, why bother arguing? You get paid the same no matter what and most of the time the managers will agree to just accept it anyway.
