A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

Monkfish 12,435 1,117 April 23, 2010 at 06:49 PM
One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

Hunger Games - 3.5/5 Thought the story behind everything was sort of lacking. The movie itself was interesting. There should've been more focus on other characters as well...but it might've been a 4 hr movie...so not sure. laugh out loud

Friend with Benefits - 1.5/5 The movie was alright, nothing special. People that thinks they can be just friends with benefits but falls in love...typical plot.

The Tourist - 1.5/5 This movie was not that interesting. Boring, not much action and that last bit of surprise was just like oh really?

The Adjustment Bureau - 3.5/5 The half-baked cheese ending aside, it was pretty decent.

Wrath of the Titans
"For those with a burning curiosity to know how The Lord of the Rings as directed by Michael Bay might look, Wrath of the Titans provides an idea."

A much better movie is...
Rambo 4

50/50 - I enjoyed it, a little too predictable but it still made me cry a bit. Seth Rogen played Seth Rogen, but had some really honest/real moments that were good.

My Girlfriend's Boyfriend - Cheesy, as expected but actually better than I thought it was going to be. Surprised by the ending. Free on amazon prime streaming. laugh out loud

The Adjustment Bureau - 2.5/5 - A romance film disguised as a sci-fi/action movie.

The Poseidon Adventure - Watch it at least once a year. Always gets me thinking about what I'd do.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence - Forgot how bad this was and that by cutting Jude Law's part entirely you'd greatly reduce the 2 hours and 25 minute run time.

Blitz - British film about a serial cop killer. It was okay. The pacing was fast and there were some great lines.

Rock-A-Bye Baby - Connie Stevens in her first screen role. Pretty bad film. Jerry Lewis has always annoyed me.

Meet John Doe- 5/5. Haven't seen this in awhile. Barbara Stanwyck heart and Gary Cooper. Before the Occupy Movement there was this film and this film should replace It's A Wonderful Life as the obligatory Capra Christmas movie.

Henry's Crime - Keanu Reeves robs a bank. Yawn

Wrath of the Titans 4.0/10 Lots of dirty people running around trying to rescue Zeus..Liam Neeson seriously is a Badass...I mean give him armor and Black Cher hair and he is larger than life!!! ...(still better than Ghostrider Part 2!! (Which is my new rock bottom standard for action movies..)

True Grit - It's been about 20 years since I saw the original but this is True Sh*t. Flat performance from the girl; she only has 1 facial expression. I mean, what was that conversation like? "Hey bro lets do a remake of a movie with pedophilic overtones, add some average cinematography, and include mediocre acting! Sure it's a recession and people are tired of depressing films but screw it. We're the Coen Brothers! People will kiss our asses no matter what we put out!" 1/5 stars. Cool

And the Coen Brothers version of the movie was truer to the book version, including her performance.

"Happiness and depression are both feelings, just like joy and anger. It's not feelings that give us problems. It's what we do with them that makes the difference."

"When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down happy. They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life."

"Worry gives a small thing a big shadow."
