I also watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation over the weekend. "Sh*tter was full!"
Took the son to see Dumb and Dumber To on Saturday. It definitely had some LOL moments, but I don't think I'd say it was good. It's always a good sign when your 12 year old son talks about how inappropriate some of the scenes were. There goes my Father of the Year award!
I cleansed my palette with the Harold Lloyd silent comedy classic The Freshman (1925). It was a fun look at a (tiny) slice of college life in the 20's. Fun stuff!
No one cares that you saved an extra nickel on this same deal back in 2007. If it doesn't apply to the current deal, please keep it to yourself.
We saw Dr. Cabbie[imdb.com]. It wasn't as good as The Hundred-Foot Journey or Million Dollar Arm (2 other recent quasi-Bollywood films), but it was pretty good nonetheless. I'd probably give it a 7/10.
Frozen [on a ski lift] - This was a good WWYD type of film but lagged with non-action, the disgust of implausibility, and poor dialogue. I'm very interested in what other loungers would do trapped on a ski lift overnight. An average film where you wont miss much by hitting FF a little.
Lifeguard (1976) - a very young mustached Sam Elliott must chose between being an aging lifeguard and becoming a car salesman to advance himself in life. Also stars a young Parker Stevenson, Anne Archer, and Kathleen Quinlan. Five stars and two thumbs up. Great film.
I just watched Stardust again. It was released in 2006 if i recall correctly. But I love it so much that I collected the DVD and watched it over and over again.
Always said I was going to read the book before watching the movie, but still haven't read the book. SD (and the other interwbz stuff) is a real time suck and I can't seem to stop.
"Happiness and depression are both feelings, just like joy and anger. It's not feelings that give us problems. It's what we do with them that makes the difference."
"When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down happy. They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life."
Frozen (Disney film) - Not a lot of story or events there for an hour and 43 minutes. Too many songs.
Heard all the hype about the movie, saw it on during a free preview last week and decided to watch. I just didn't see why the movie was so popular, then again I'm not exactly the target demographic. Pretty boring too, I remember thinking "how much more" and there was still an hour left.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" -- 2nd Amendment
"You can just hang outside in the sun all day tossing a ball around or you can sit at your computer and do something that matters." -- Eric Cartman, South Park
"Our houses are protected by the good Lord and a gun. You might meet em both if you show up here not welcome son..." - Josh Thompson
It's not a movie review, but you're all going to see the third Hobbit movie soon, so here's Stephen Colbert interviewing Smaug. I thought it was going to just be a picture of Smaug with moving lips, but Smaug is actually right there in the studio, sort of. Pretty cool.
