This is the new official thread for the Winn-Dixie grocery store chain.

Please note, that the weekly ad will not be 100% completely typed up as far as the meat/produce specials, unless it is a bogo deal. W/D offers a lot of deals on meat and produce (sometimes up to three pages worth) and it would be cluttersome and tiresome to type it completely up.

OT is permitted in this thread. Please keep it minimal if all possible, but I understand that sometimes we have VERY slow weeks @ W/D, so more chit-chat will be happening. I'm okay with that! It's what makes our community here stronger Smilie

Anyone and everyone is welcome to help contribute. I will have the ad typed up and in the wiki Tuesday night, and start the matchups on Wednesday a.m. If you catch a deal, post it!

Thanks! hug

Coupons at Winn Dixie
Unfortunately there is no official coupon policy but here is a copy of an email that I received when I inquired:

Quote :
Please accept my apology but I am unable to send copies of policies.
As far as the use of coupons is concerned, Winn-Dixie will honor its store coupons and
manufacture coupons, these type coupons are useable in any chain where the item is sold.
Winn-Dixie does not honor other store coupons; these type coupons are issued for the
purpose of generating sales in a particular food chain and therefore are only useable in
that chains store, Winn-Dixie would be unable to receive credit for those coupons. There
are also times when Winn-Dixie will double or triple coupons, this is done randomly and
will always be noted in the flyer as well as the store where the promotion is going on.
Other than that coupons are handled per the instructions stated. Of course no outdated or
coupons missing date info are accept.
I hope this information is helpful. Winn-Dixie does appreciate you shopping with us.

Not only is it BOGO but it is printing out a $10.00 Catalina when your purchase is over 30.00 and $7.00 if it is over 20 (before coupons of course). I have not tried this yet but have read about several people doing it. The pressed powders and the blush don't beep at all and the BOGO coupn deducts the full amount. But if you mix them in the same purchase, the register will want to take off the lower amount so make sure you do all the powders together in one transaction, all the blush in another etc.

So WD registers autodeduct? Cool! Do you happen to k now if it is just 01, or 14 (and 16, and whatever else is buy x, get y free) as well?

Reps are back...for now. Stick Out Tongue I owe loads of gratitude to everyone that got me where I am! Read the *NEW* CVS FAQ and post your questions there. Let's keep the deal threads deal-related, please.
Would it kill you to read the wiki? Or to read the thread? All the experts got to where they are by reading...you can too.

Thanks, plgffl! I haven't been to a W-D in years as P bought out all of them in our city a few years back, but there are some just down the road a bit...

Can someone inform me of some of the W-D faults if there are others that haven't been mentioned yet? (Feel free to compare to P in FL!)

I think the worst part about them is cleanliness.. As an example, here's my correspondence to Winn-Dixie from an incident that occurred last year:

The evening of May 12, 2009, at about 10:30 p.m. I was in line waiting to
check out. In front of me was a VERY large woman wearing white skin-tight stretch
pants.. the back of which (in full view of me and everyone one else in the line) was
visibly wet with a VERY large stain (read: of epic proportions) which appeared to be
urine and some fecal matter. The woman was otherwise evidently not of the highest
hygienic standards. When it came time for me to check out, I asked the cashier if he had
anti-bacterial gel or something to wash his hands before he checked me out (sorry, but in
my opinion people who mess in their pants in public probably touch it and then
everything else around them). I explained why to the poor cashier (he would have had no
view of the disaster). He asked to go to the restroom to wash his hands -- I had no
objection -- but, there was no one who would let him go. He told me that he had no
antibacterial cleaner at the register for his hands (THIS IS THE CRUX OF MY
COMPLAINT: what the heck are you people thinking to not provide hand cleaner to the
cashiers who touch all of our food?). I gladly gave him some of mine before he checked
me out. Now, I know that there's nothing you can do with people insane enough to walk
around with 30" wide urine stained behinds, but you sure as heck can figure out a way to
help cashiers keep their hands clean after they have to deal with the great unclean.
Thanks.

Corporate followed up with me. I reiterated that I was dismayed that there was NO cleaner of any sort at the registers available for use by the cashiers and that the cashier had asked and his request was DENIED that he be allowed to go wash his hands. We (I and the other people in line behind fecal-Mary made it clear we were happy to wait so he could wash his hands).

I went in again about a week after I last heard from corporate -- who had agreed with me that hand-sanitizer should be available to the cashiers. There was NO sanitizer and had been none. I have up. Now I go only when I really have to go.

On the bright side, I never had an issue using as many coupons as I wished...as long as they were for the proper products.

WHERE ARE YOU? If you only post "I WENT TO MY LOCAL STORE and..." and you do not indicate the city/location of that store and your location is not in your profile so that it displays under your screen name, your post IS NOT HELPFUL at all. SO, PLEASE IDENTIFY YOUR LOCATION! Or take your post off to the appropriate blog. Thank You.

I think all cashiers at every store in the country should use hand sanitizer between customers. It is a well known (and proven) fact that money (mostly bills), harbor more germs and bacteria than a public toilet.

I get totally freaked out when I see a cashier lick their thumb and count money, then lick, then count..... Sick

laugh out loud That reminds me of an article I read about most paper money having a significant amount of drug residue on them as well as all the other bad stuff. Don't know if it's true, but might explain the old lick & count......

All I have to say is shop at your own risk, cleanliness seems to be a real issue company wide...

I found this on their facebook page...
"Wow. I have shopped at Winn Dixie for years in another state and other grocery stores and have never seen a grocery store so filthy and in such bad of shape as I experienced at the Winn Dixie in XXX, Alabama. It can not possibly be safe or healthy to sell food in a store in this condition. I recently went to the Winn Dixie here for the first time and for the LAST TIME. I have never seen a grocery store so dirty in my entire lifetime. I am absolutely appalled and disgusted at how dirty and nasty this store is. It is not just one area it is the entire store that is filled with filth and dirt from top to bottom. The floors, fixtures, glass cases, shelves, freezer cases, ect are so dirty and it is apparent that this store is not being cleaned AT ALL. The refrigerated and freezer cases are filthy, the glass doors are filthy and covered in hand and fingerprints not just from a day or two but it looks like they haven't been cleaned for a length of time, the shelves where the food sits are filthy. The frozen vegetable area and specifically the frozen corn is covered in ice. The roof of the freezer cases inside have mounds of ice formed. The fresh vegetable area where the onions, tomatoes, ect sit is filthy. The word dirt is written in the layer of dust that is covering the top of the vegetable table where no vegetables sit at all. The meat cases that hold the chicken, there is a plastic "wall" that holds the chicken and all three shelves are covered in what looks like grease or something, it is apparent it has been a long time since the meat area has been cleaned. Under the wire where the ground beef sits is covered in dried juice. The shelves where the packaged lunch meat sits is filthy and has a greasy film that covers the shelves. It is apparent that nothing is being cleaned. There is trash in several areas that has fallen below the racks, ie where the yougurt sits and dairy cases, that has never been cleaned. The milk is sitting on filthy shelves. The shelves where the juice and where the cold energy drinks are is filthy. The wine shelves are dirty. There is trash just swept right under the isles throughout the store and all the floors are dirty. The bakery cases where the cheese cake/birthday cake sits is filthy. The case where the fresh seafood is suppose to go is filthy. I could go on and on. I can only imagine what it looks like "behind the scenes" where the meat is being cut or behind the bakery if the places that is actually seen by customers are in these conditions. I will never shop at a Winn Dixie again. I can't believe this company has allowed this store to be in the condition it is in."

I,too, have had the displeasure of shopping at a nasty W/D. However, I have also had the pleasure of shopping an an equally if not MORE nastier Publix.

When you see a store in these conditions, you need to report it. Typing a complaint on their facebook page is not reporting it. Reporting would mean contacting the local health department and W/D corporate office. Ever heard the saying "The squeaky wheel gets the grease?"

Last but not least, please let's not turn this into a bash thread. This thread was to help find us find deals. I am happy with the outlook received from both pm's and responses to the actual thread itself.

I shop at WD and I use coupons on bogo items but I do it in a sly manner. I've run into an issue before where when I tried to use 2 coupons on a bogo it was denied by the cashier bc I was getting one item for free already. There is no set corp policy so it's up to the person on duty if they'll allow it or not. Now when I check out I don't give them my card until the very end of the transaction after I've used all my coupons. When the cashier asks for my card I tell them something along the lines of "Oh I like to wait until the very end to use it. I love seeing the total drop down,it's my only real thrill in my life since I've had children" They usually laugh and just do my card after all my stuff and coupons are rung up. Coverlaugh

we prefer you use another thread for off topic chit chat and keep this one on topic. this is a courtesy to others who are on slower connections and here strictly for deals instead of wading thru ot posts.

Hmm...Sorry if you took my post as "bashing" the thread. Just participating in "chit-chat that makes our community stronger".

Also, my earlier post was PULLED from their facebook page NOT posted by me on their facebook page and karmalaw's post WAS a direct letter to the corporate office so I'm not sure who you are trying to direct this to:

Sorry for upsetting you.
I'm thinking you may be reading more into my post than is what is really there?

I'm not accusing you of anything now, nor did I accuse you of anything before. I was just stating facts that there are other stores like this too, and even well respected stores. I think every store has their lttle "red headed step child" and unfortunately Winn-Dixie has more than most. It's quite public that the store has had a lot of problems, etc.

I was not accusing anyone of bashing the store, I just don't want 300 people coming here and posting "I hate WD, or my wd is nasty too, or etc" because that would be 300 useless posts that many would have to wade through just to find their deals.

To help get back on topic then Big Grin

Has anyone noticed any clearance items at WD. A while back I found pledge wipes marked like 90% off and the $1 off q worked.

However I did the snuggle recently and it would not take both $3 q's off????? any thoughts as to why?

Tiner,

A while back Febreze noticeables were on clearance for $3.49 and the $4 coupon went through fine for $0.50 overage, however I had bought another item that generated a $0.01 overage and I had beeps.

The only thing I could think of was that maybe the programming? I noticed the febreze had the PC next to and took the discount off at the end, whereas the other item rang up the $0.99 originally.

There are lots of clearance items, I try to make a list everytime I go into the store. I will see if we can get a 2nd wiki so that we can use that one for clearance deals? Does that sound good to everyone? Your input on this thread is very helpful.

Also W/D participates in Catalina deals. So we will hve to have a section for those too!
