Please no OT.

This will not cover the weekly deals. See the individual threads for each week.

Different types of clearance:

1. The kind with official CVS tags on the shelves. These are usually found in many stores.
2. The kind on an endcap or special table and often have green stickers on them. These are usually specific to that store. Sometimes the discontinued items will show up at other stores with these stickers, too.

Post your finds, with as much info as possible including where you found them (on the shelf or in another place in the store). If you know of any coupons to use on the clearance items, post those too.

Different types of clearance:
1. The kind with official CVS tags on the shelves. These are usually found in many stores. Here's great detail from CVS-er here: (Please rep, this is good info to have!)

CVS has 5 stages that their clearance products go through. Four of these stages are marked by 4 seperate tags, which are the yellow tags that say CLEARANCE on them. A store may hit all 5 stages, or skip ahead to any of the further stages at any time. This decision is usually up to the store manager. Also, sometimes the item may skip ahead stages (aka get marked down further) but the staff hasn't had a chance to put out the tag reflecting the latest stage yet. (This happens at my store a lot, because we are very busy & understaffed.) The 5 stages are:

STAGE 1 - yellow tag that simply reads "CLEARANCE" (item is still full price, the tag is just alerting you that the item is being discontinued. For you guys, its an alert to keep an eye on this item as it reaches the further markdown stages)
STAGE 2 - yellow tag that reads "CLEARANCE 25% OFF - YOU PAY $X.XX" (item is now 25% off original price)
STAGE 3 - yellow tag that reads "CLEARANCE 50% OFF - YOU PAY $X.XX" (item is now 50% off original price)
STAGE 4 - yellow tag that reads "CLEARANCE 75% OFF - YOU PAY $X.XX" (item is now 75% off original price
STAGE 5 - items removed from shelf and placed in the designated general clearance area (item is now 90% off original price)[/

I know these have all been mentioned by others already, but here are some pics of some of the clearanced stuff I picked up today that all counted toward EB deals.

Axe Cool Metal silver-colored body wash, both the regular 12oz bottle and the 33% bonus 16oz bottle were 50% off at $2.89, counted toward the buy 3 get $4 EBs deal (limit 1 - week of 1/27 only). B2G1 Q from 1/27 RP autodeducts $5.99 when buying 3. If mixing/matching with other Axe, watch out for the yellow bottle, it doesn't have the same manufacturer code and thus would cause the Q to beep.

Nivea moisturizing shave gel in the blue can dropped in price at my store - I scanned it yesterday, and it was 50% off at $2.09; glad I didn't buy it because today it was 75% off at $1.04 and still counted toward the $2 EB deal (confirmed limit of 5, can buy all in same transaction, Feb. monthly deal). MM without coupons, even better if your store has clearanced Arctic Freeze aftershaves left to use the FB BOGO Q (which autodeducts $2.99).

Right Guard Sport gel in the Fresh scent was 75% off at $0.82, counted toward the buy 2 get $2 EBs deal (confirmed limit of 4 (8 items), can buy all in the same transaction, Feb. monthly deal). Again, MM without coupons. I know there's a $2/2 Right Guard IP on coupons.com, but it says it's for Total Defense 5 or Xtreme, and unfortunately those words don't exist on the clearanced gel's packaging.
Bought the last two of the Nivea shave gels on the shelf. They were NOT tagged as clearance at my store but when I scanned them they rang up as $1.04. Received $2 ECB's for each.
Act II and the Luster were gone. Wish I'd saved my coupon prints on the Act II, oh well.

Cross posting from 2/3 CVS weekly thread:

Get $4 ECB wyb ANY Gillette Venus or Fusion ProGlide razor 1ct. (excludes clearance items) Limit 1

The clearance Venus Embrace @ $1.99/ $2.07 at most stores is producing the $ 4 ECB. Limit 1 reached.

Use $2/1 Venus mq in 1/27/13 PG, makes it FREE..$4 MM (in most cases)

Also:

Get $2 ECB wyb (2) Crest 6.4 oz, Whitening w/Scope 4-4.8 oz or Pro-Health 4.2 oz 2/$5 Limit 2

The clearance CREST COMPLETE w/ WHITENING WITH SCOPE (4.4 oz) UPC 0 37000 38583 7 is 50%-75% at stores or already cleared out is producing $2 ECB wyb 2..I found 4 in my store mixed in with the 4.0 oz, make sure to check sizes, and pkging, very similar to one another

Use $.75c/1 Crest TP 4.0 oz or larger in 1/27/13 PG..

Slightly random, but need to ask. When I used to shop CVS about 3-4 years ago, every store I went in had a sort of "clearance endcap" section and it was always full of fun clearance-y stuff, and often 90% off and I loved it. Now that I've been visiting stores again lately, I haven't seen this sort of area in a single store. Is it just around here? Or have they changed they way they do clearance since my prehistoric CVS visits?

I've been shopping at CVS for 10 years. I'd say up til 5-6 years ago most CVS had a clearance end cap. Nowaways most don't - they stay in their regular spots on the shelves with the clearance (25%-75% off) tags underneath it. There might be one or two stores I can think of that still has an end cap but for the most part they are gone.

I only have one store that still has an area like that and 90% is very rare these days, at least in the stores I shop. Sadwalk

That is one reason I don't shop at CVS as often anymore. I am sure they are giving stuff away for less than 90% to wholesalers instead of letting their frequent shoppers take advantage of some of those deals.

Mine used to, a few years ago, then like everyone else said, they migrated it to the regular shelf spots.

Now I have to walk up and down aisles and look for tags to find clearance. My store probably thinks I'm odd... I take pictures of everything I find so I can reference for q's later. I have one store though that NEVER has clearance. Grumpy cashiers. I just stay far away from them.
