Thread Details

Please no OT.

This will not cover the weekly deals. See the individual threads for each week.

Different types of clearance:

1. The kind with official CVS tags on the shelves. These are usually found in many stores.
2. The kind on an endcap or special table and often have green stickers on them. These are usually specific to that store. Sometimes the discontinued items will show up at other stores with these stickers, too.

Post your finds, with as much info as possible including where you found them (on the shelf or in another place in the store). If you know of any coupons to use on the clearance items, post those too.

Different types of clearance:
1. The kind with official CVS tags on the shelves. These are usually found in many stores. Here's great detail from CVS-er here: (Please rep, this is good info to have!)

CVS has 5 stages that their clearance products go through. Four of these stages are marked by 4 seperate tags, which are the yellow tags that say CLEARANCE on them. A store may hit all 5 stages, or skip ahead to any of the further stages at any time. This decision is usually up to the store manager. Also, sometimes the item may skip ahead stages (aka get marked down further) but the staff hasn't had a chance to put out the tag reflecting the latest stage yet. (This happens at my store a lot, because we are very busy & understaffed.) The 5 stages are:

STAGE 1 - yellow tag that simply reads "CLEARANCE" (item is still full price, the tag is just alerting you that the item is being discontinued. For you guys, its an alert to keep an eye on this item as it reaches the further markdown stages)
STAGE 2 - yellow tag that reads "CLEARANCE 25% OFF - YOU PAY $X.XX" (item is now 25% off original price)
STAGE 3 - yellow tag that reads "CLEARANCE 50% OFF - YOU PAY $X.XX" (item is now 50% off original price)
STAGE 4 - yellow tag that reads "CLEARANCE 75% OFF - YOU PAY $X.XX" (item is now 75% off original price
STAGE 5 - items removed from shelf and placed in the designated general clearance area (item is now 90% off original price)[/

2. The kind on an endcap or special table and often have green stickers on them. These are usually specific to that store. Sometimes the discontinued items will show up at other stores with these stickers, too.

Does anyone have which Gillette cartridges are on clearance other than the M3 Power? My store has them locked up in that clear plastic thing that you have to push the button & have them dispense out, so I can't really scan them to see.

Ever have one of those moments where what's in your head does not come out? Well, in my head, I had erased the Excel & the Vibrance because I've depleted the inventory on the Excel and Vibrance is nowhere to be found around here. LMAO By erasing it from my head, I forgot to type that I already knew about those.

I was hoping some of the Fusions were on clearance and I had somehow missed those.

Thanks for answering!!

No fusions, the only other one is the Mach 3 Turbo 8 pack. For electric razors some stores have the Norelco HQ8.

On another note, has anyone been to a CVS store on Sunday or Today? I'm interested to know if they've pulled/sent back all of the 75% off stuff from last week or if they're letting it ride for awhile longer since more of the same stuff appears to being sent weekly via the trucks?

Thanks! Do you know how much the Norelco are?

I went today and found Colgate, Lysol No Touch & the M3 Power which all were 75% off last week and are still 75% off today.

Thanks for that tip, was planning on making about an hour trip North to hit another block of CVS's but didn't want to get shut out---although I'm sure it likely differs from store to store as far as how long they leave clearance Merch out for.

The HQ8 is around $7 or $8 at 75% off depending on what the store has it originally priced at. I would say about 30% of the stores I went to carried them, and obviously less than that had any left by the time I got there. Also, if you're looking for a decent little travel razor some stores had a neat Wet/Dry Electric Panasonic for just $5 @ 75% off.

Also forgot the mention that the HQ8 was located with the Electric Razors on a Peg rather than in those annoying little "push to release" cases that never work right. The $5 Panasonic was located near the HQ8 in the same little section (between the two cases of mens/womens manual cartridges).

CVS should give their customers a chance to buy it at 75% off before they wholesale it out. I'll watch something go from 25% to 50% and then when it finally gets to 75%, it's pulled off the shelf before anybody gets a chance to buy it. That sucks...if CVS wants to sell to wholesalers, they can go right ahead but just don't jerk me off in the process.
While I miss my clearance end-caps, I doubt product is being pulled all that often (aside from holiday merchandise). It's being bought, either by someone who stalks the store daily (like I used to) or by an employee clued into the discount. If anything, as others have posted, additional already-clearance-priced merchandise is being delivered on a regular basis.

It's all about the timing.

As far as I know clearance merchandise only gets pulled when there is a reset, they get new items in all the time and have to make room for them so some old items have to go. For instance the hair care aisle was reset a few weeks ago, I was able to score loads of pantene, herbal essence, garnier and loreal stylers, either free or pennies using coupons. Some stores reduced faster then others, you can't go once a week and expect to get lucky. Most stores around here didn't have them marked, or the discount was only marked 25% but actually was 75. So if you're in the know (thank you SD and the internet) you can just take stuff to the scanner. One store never went down to 75 on the Loreal before it was pulled and reset, that is a store problem, seemed like whoever is in charge of downloading the updates works slower then the person resetting the shelves. I have one store nearby that still hasn't reset the hair aisle, and stuff is still sitting on the shelf, I didn't have any coupons left so I didn't bother scanning to see if it was still 75 or went back to full price. I still have one store that has a handful of items still on 25% off, it's 2 minutes from my house so I go there everyday, every other store has been 75% on those items for a week or 2. Someone isn't doing there job, so most likely they will be pulled before ever hitting 75, again stores fault, not CVS.

Went to CVS early this morning to see if I could find the Skintimate shaving cream with the yellow cap that produces the $4 up. Got lucky to find 2 on a display with $1.50 off peelies. They were located on the top shelf along with 3 packs of Gillette Profusion Bonus packs. These packs scanned at $2.82. They say Gillette Fusion Proglide up to a $11 value plus bonus skin care samples. They come with a razor, 2 cartridges, 1 shave gel 2.5 oz 1 thermal cleanser, 0.7 oz and 1 conditioning balm 0.5 oz.
