I'm stupid, I thought the post said i3. That said, I would assume there is a mileage limit.

I had put a request online for the i8, and a salesman left a voicemal on my phone to let me know it's for serious buys only. By serious he clarified it was for new owners that wanted to try it out under the dealership's supervision. He said that potential i8 owners would want a car with zero miles.

I can't imagine there not being some sort of background check (mostly financials) before they let you drive off with an i8. There was a dealership that was letting potential buyers take a Huracan home for a day. In order to qualify you have to own at least one of the cars on a short list.

With similar incredulity, I have driven $500k Aventador and $350k Ferrari FF just asking, signing an iPad, and GOING.... ride along guy, not overnight, of course. But still fun. (120+ mph) Let alone EVERY flavor of Porsche (sans 918) one can drive all day long. But, I asked all the makes representatives and VETTING/Background checks is a no-no, drives away big time high rollers.

I had a 1:30 pm reservation for the Jaguar "Art of Performance" test drive event in Dallas, but postponed it to later in the evening. I guess no other SD'ers will be there.

I was there at 11:30 - quick review:

They had valet parking, and once you walked in, there was a display of their 6 car lineup - the new SUV looked pretty nice as well as the XE. Once you browsed that, you went to "The Audition" section - they film 5 action scenes and two standing scenes to cut into a short little spy clip. Overall fairly silly but funny seeing yourself get inserted into a movie. There were two studios set up and like a Hollywood camera rigging setup which they had you sit in.

After this, there was a road drive from the location over to Fair Park in the new XE. A short autocross was set up in a parking lot, you got two laps in the XE then drove back to the main location, where there were refreshments and a picture booth where you can pet a fake Jaguar, as well as Jaguar lifestyle items. Refreshments included hot and ice coffee, as well as small sliders and fruit. The parting gift is a rather cool leaping Jaguar hood ornament keychain.

Overall, this event was less focused on the driving and more on the showcase of the cars themselves, and as I prefer to drive more, it wasn't my favorite. Everyone was super nice, professional, ahem attractive ahem and it was run well so I don't regret it though.

Without further ado, my ridiculous video:

That's pretty awesome, thanks for the review, pics (which appear right side up), and video. Too bad there's no speaking role, but cool nonetheless. I'll make the trip out to Dallas for it. And since the refreshments aren't all that, I'll make sure I'm not hungry. nod

Thanks for sharing the video. The whole idea is definitely silly, but the production of the video turned out to be a lot better than I was expecting. But from the way that steering wheel was shaking, you may want to have the tires balanced. Stick Out Tongue

Haha no, they say specifically, "shake the wheel, you're driving on gravel!" It's all a very strange process which I imagine is only a fraction of what a real TV show or movie does.

Nice acting on your video! I saw mine after the event (I went to the LA one) and while I was pretty happy with how it turned out , I wanted to do an improved second take! bounce

I agree that more driving (i.e. longer autocross, more models available to drive) would have been nice, but I also give Jaguar credit for bringing something different to the table. Cool

Ha, same...my brother asked why the wheel was shaking too, I feel I want to re-do that part lol. Yea agreed, it was pretty creative. Everything was run very smoothly, and it was a good impression of the car.

That was a very good time at the Jaguar Art of Performance yesterday evening. Johnnyma already described it in pretty good detail so I won't be redundant. I will say that the chicks there, as I guess you'd assume, were pretty hot. And in general the staff was very nice as you said. I really like the Australian one where we shot the 5 driving scenes. Did you do hair & makeup? I didn't. Too bad there were no speaking scenes, even a simple "Yes" to accept the audition challenge would've been good.

The drive itself was pretty good - get to be one of the first in the country to drive the Jaguar XE that you can't buy yet (in America). Too bad they didn't have a M/T, but those are pretty rare these days at test drive events. The food was better than I expected. The drinks, not so much, just water and iced coffee.

I'm uploading my video on YT like you did, which is taking a while. I'll edit this post once it's done. In the meantime, here are some of my pics. I'd definitely do it again, but the drive from Dallas back to FW sucked. I hate driving to Dallas. I should've mentioned in the survey to have it in the mid-cities next time.

Yea they were gorgeous girls and very friendly. I sat in the display XE and one popped in the passenger seat with me, I'm like why doesn't this happen to me in real life? No makeup, the line was too long and I didn't see a need.

If you wanted to brave Dallas again - don't forget the auto show with test drive events in mid-March.
