Excel not showing recent documents in Win7 taskbar

rebat 5,263 468 July 9, 2010 at 10:06 AM
I use Excel a lot at work.
So much so that I have it pinned on my taskbar in Windows 7.

My favourite thing about Win7 is that I could easily open up recent documents from the taskbar icon (you click and hold on program in taskbar and gesture up). From there you can Pin documents to the recent list for easy access. For some reason Excel is not doing this anymore.

Just added Word and PPT to taskbar and I see recent documents. I tried turn off show recent documents and turning it back on... no dice.

Right click Task Bar > Properties > Start Menu

TICK: Store and display recently opened items in the Start Menu and taskbar.

Now right click the Excel icon.

I already tried to turn off and on the Store and display recently opened programs in Start Menu and Taskbar.

Recent programs show up in the start menu, they also show when i click on the office button (office 2007) when i open excel, but not in the taskbar. Thanks for the tip about right click, before I would hold and drag the mouse up.

BTW every other program i have in the taskbar shows recent items, just not Excel.
