Good mid-morning everyone Wave

it's quite gloomy out there. it is drizzling right now and I am soooo tempted to still go out because my boys are bouncing off the walls OMG Right now DS3 and DS2 are arguing over whether pandas have private parts LMAO Some ppl worry that my DS10mo is not crawling yet but I just imagine him going in another direction as his brothers...which way do I go OMG? These boys are fun but sometimes (okay, often Wink ) they make me go Crazy.

So I need advice. Granny needs to go through her old slides/negatives. She was going to get them all developed and go through them. Thanks to SD I see some deals on digital converters and one was clearanced at Office Depot back in Nov '11. Again, SD is pure awesomeness, and thanks to the inventory trick I see one store shows in stock about 1hr away. CS over the phone couldn't confirm the price without calling them but said I should contact my closest store and have them do a transfer.
---> I'm afraid the price is back to normal or never went down at that store. Do I call them and check? Or do I just have a local store do that before trying the transfer? I also don't want to get shut down by the local store...especially since I'd be going in w/ 3 kids and there is no T nearby to make the trip worthwhile Wink

gaaah I wish there was a rite-aid nearby too... I need more free Eucerin for DS10mo's eczema. Poor babe got an infection from scratching while I wasn't looking. Now he is on topical antibiotics. I really hope it doesn't come back with a vengeance because he'd have to be on oral antibiotics and maybe even prescription cortisone. None of us have ever had that except for my dad.

Hope you are all having better weather then we are Big Grin

do you have to pay for it b4 they transfer it? then you would find out how much it is and can say yay or nay i don't wanna pay that. if you don't have to pay first, just have them transfer it and then find out how much it is. when it comes, maybe you will be able to go sans kids or dh could go for you.

the thing about slickdeals is sometimes it's kinda inconvenient. but that's why it's slick. time is money. when people want convenience, usually it comes at a price. if you are willing to do the work is when you are slick. that's why one of the cardinal rules of slickdealing is never call, go to the store. its those lazy asses in hot deals that always screw it up by calling. i started out in hot deals and i cannot tell you how many times somebody said they called and then a deal was dead.

slickdealing is actually a lot of work, whether it be following threads, driving all over kingdom come for a deal, clipping and printing coupons, managing your q's, actually buying a newspaper, etc. i die of laughter every time somebody asks if there is a way to get the insert coupon without buying the newspaper. there are times when you have to calculate whether it's worth it to do all the work to do a slickdeal or whether you are better off paying for the convenience. and sometimes the gas is just not worth it.

Flip flops were the footwear of choice at my nieces graduation. Lots of graduates had flip flops on.

When my great nephew was dedicated (special ceremony) a year ago, the Godmother wore flip flops with her spaghetti string dress (and not a strapless bra)... at least she wore a bra laugh out loud

Quote from jteef1 :
If you ever want to appreciate Target, try a couple trips to Kmart. EEK!

Actually, one of my Kmarts is turning out to be pretty nice. It has a new manager. Smilie I REALLY like her. She is always out in the store talking up the SYWR program to the customers - and she really wants her store to succeed!

I actually like her enough that I try to buy what I can at her store (sometimes even if it costs a little more EEK!) And I go through the trouble to fill out the surveys on the receipt giving the store high marks. But there is a WORLD a difference in that store now. I almost gave up on Kmart shopping after a few weeks of it. But one day I went there and she was buzzing around - and I already noticed a difference in the store. Employees are smiling at customers, asking to help, being nice when you use coupons, etc. etc. I really hope she can be successful with the store. Not just for my sake - but she is "good people" and I would like to see her succeed.

I have still had a few issues there - but even they have been handled better. This one cashier is rude, mean, nasty, etc. She actually waited on me the first couple times I went there and it was almost enough to scare me off Kmart. The last time she waited on me, she was her normal unpleasant self. I asked for the shift manager and said "XXX is rude!" She said "I know." She assured me that they knew about the problem and X was going to have to start being "unrude" if she wanted to keep working there.

Then, the other night, the cashier charged me for one extra toilet paper. Though it was $5.49 - when I asked to get a refund for the overcharge - the CS person told me I would only get $1.35 back. EEK! Because I had used a P&G CRT, and a 50 cent coupon on the OTHER two packs of toilet paper I actually did buy - they wanted to take almost $4 off my refund amount. EEK! Well, I would keep the dang toilet paper before I would pay $4 for something I didn't get. But the point is - I bought 2; the cashier rang up 3 - my coupons covered the REST of my purchase (what I actually did buy) - I should not be penalized by only getting $1.35 back on a $5.46 overcharge due to a cashier error.

The CS person just gave me the standard Kmart "The system just does that. There is NOTHING we can do about it."

I asked for a manager and said I wanted a GC for the amount Kmart's system took from me. The shift manager actually gave me a gift card. I had talked to him once before (before the new manager was on the scene). And there is a world of difference in him now too.

Kmart can be so complicated to shop at because all the promotions overlap and if ONE thing goes wrong, it messes up the whole dang order. And God forbid they decide to return and re-ring. Their system steals your money from you if you used Kmart coupons. And everyone acts like "Oh well... there is nothing we can do..."

So it is nice that this store has a manager that is getting her employees to actually care about customer concerns....

I would say Kmart, overall, does not seem to be responsive to customer complaints. You are pretty much at the mercy of the store manager and CS employees. But the Big Kmart in the sky doesn't seem to care if you are happy or not. But I am beginning to like this store with the new manager. Dang! I have even been looking at buying a freezer there....even if it costs a little more...
I no longer shop at Kmart since Black Friday 2000. They want to see my receipt when I left, I told them if they thought we stole something to call the police, they did and would not let us leave. Well I think they must have gone and checked the tapes and saw we had done nothing wrong and the when the police officer arrived, they talked to him and after a while he came over and told us to leave, we told him we no longer wanted the stuff, so we went over to CS and we wanted them to return each item by ringing it in the register to have proof against us they were holding us wrongly. Well they just took everything in the bags and dumped it back into the cart and refused to run it through the computer individually and just gave us our money back.

Just to add to the whole flip flop discussion...

I think flip flops are inappropriate wear except for the pool, the beach, and the locker room. That goes for those nasty looking slides too. And wearing black (or white) socks with the slides is even worse.

To me, it just says "I'm lazy. I don't care enough about myself or my appearance to try any harder." It tells me everything I need to know about that person - and it's not positive. The argument that they're comfortable doesn't hold water with me. Lots of things are comfortable, but that doesn't make them appropriate or right when out in the everyday world.

And you'd better believe that goes double for wearing lounge pants in public.

The sad thing is, this has become the norm, so it will never improve. We will never go back to dressing appropriately for being out in public. It will only go further downhill, although I'm glad that I can't think of what's going to be the next step in the wrong direction.

I don't know what Dr. Oz said about it today, but I've said for a long time that we're going to see a whole lotta people with foot problems when they're older.

Me too! Ok, I know I did somewhat start this conversation but I love wearing flip flops. But they are new and not held together with Duct Tape! LMAO HS Graduation was Sat and I did not see anyone wearing flip flops. Did not really think about it till all this talk came about cause I am so used to seeing people wearing them here. There were alot of sandals. Really flat ones with the fancier straps. To me they actually look more uncomfortable than flip flops cause the soles are so thin.

Did you see the episode of Modern Family where Gloria wore really high heels on their trip to Disneyland? shake head She ended up in something like those huge Mickey Mouse houseshoes. Which to me looked perfectly comfortable. LMAO

I will be at Disney wearing Flip Flops part of the time. They are just soo cool (temp wise). Way better than sweaty feet! However, after a cpl days of so much walking I do end up in my tennis shoes. (which yes I bought a new pair) Wore them several times to break them in and they are ready to go. I actually bought them for exercising but I seem to forget how to do that lately. lol Oh and I also have some nice new socks. I am sure you all remember that wonderful $5 C9 tq! It was going on last time we were at disney (2010) and we still have pkg of new socks in our stockpile!

And just for the record..I absolutely HATE seeing people wear lounge pants out in public. Really?? I say, if you are so lazy that you can't get dressed in normal clothes to go out, then STAY HOME! My kids should know better cause I really gripe everytime I see ppl like this.

Just a heads up for anyone that uses the Kohl's cpns. My kohl's were being very picky this weekend when I gave them a $5 cpn. Cashier scanned it and the cashier on next register came running over and looking at the cpn. She then points out a paper posted near the register which was a $10cpn that had the word "fake" wrote in sharpie across it. She reminded her to NOT take the coupons and that they had received 2 already that morning. I looked and they were posted at every register. Then when DH went to this second cashier she would not scan it but punched #'s in and mentioned that they have to do that now cause even the fake ones scan but won't work if punched in. So just wanted to put that out there in case it is something that corp is aware of, or maybe just my local store.

Today is the last day of school for DS!!
2 days to sleep in then vacation time.

Hey, I used to wear flip flops daily in SoCal...but then again we had a pool and were a 10 minute walk to the ocean. I am partial to the Havaianas [havaianas.com] brand (they actually refer to them as sandals), which are not cheap in style, construction or price. They retail anywhere from $28-$50. It is summer and I certainly don't think wearing flip flops to the grocery = me being lazy. I cannot stand a hot tennis shoe and sock on my foot when it is 90+ outside, and I am outside with the boys from around 9am to bedtime, coming in only to eat and nap. Would I wear them to church, a wedding, someone else's graduation or out to a nice dinner (as if that ever happens laugh out loud)?...heck to the no, but in casual settings I don't think it is an inappropriate/lazy/slovenly choice. IIRC I wore flip flops when I met y'all at the zoo. Teehee

Now lounge pants are a whole 'nother story. I am completely amazed at how many people I see out at 4 or 5 in the afternoon/early evening still in their pajamas. Absolutely ridiculous. Now THAT is slovenly!

Thifteh, I would have a hard time ever outright criticizing my friends for their clothing choices. And certainly not if they look as good as you! Let's face it - too many people who wear flip flops regularly do not make good choices for the rest of their attire. You most certainly do not fall into that category.

I know hug

You know I do have my slovenly days...but I do have the wherewithal to stay home on those days. laugh out loud

People of Walmart pretty much sums up your theory!

The other thing that really irks me is when people wear slippers in public. I mean really?!?!?! Is it that hard to throw on a pair of flip flops? Roll
