Folks, I am in the market for a new plasma. Wondering which one to go for, the TCP50X1 or the Samsung 50 inch plasma with FREE Home theater system. Both are tempting deals....however unable to make up my mind Smilie

Panasonic 50 inch plasma(TCP50X1): http://accessories.us.dell.com/sn...u=A2612466

Samsung 50 inch plasma(PN50BHTZ320):http://accessories.us.dell.com/sn...u=A3256426

Your insight will be highly appreciated as I am a little confused on which one to go for.

Thanks!!

So this stand came up on frontpage today...

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1015...rigin=prod

Limit says 125 lbs... for $50 this would be a great bargain stand. Weight limit is cutting it too close for this deal though I think.. assuming a cable box, spaker, the DVD player... it would be right around 125 lbs... Seems too risky right?

I'd call and see if they have one in store, set up already. If so, go check it out. I read a review for one on Best Buy that was supposed to hold 125Lb and many reviews said it was not safe with an 80Lb TV on it... Can you find any reviews of that stand elsewhwere?

SHIPPING WEIGHT is 125lbs. I think the TV itself only weights roughly 80lbs. DVD player and cable box cant weigh that much.

I found some nice stands at discount stores like Ollies, Big Lots, Odd Lots, etc...

TV w attached stand only weighs 83lbs so you should definately be safe, as long as stand holds true to maximum weight allowance.

Go for it, pull the trigger.

I must be having a long day... Thanks for the help everyone.... I might get it, going to read through all the reviews I can find tonight. As long as I find that 100lbs will hold I'll be good to go. Reps to all!!

Also, sometimes those weight restrictions are just on the top and not total. If that's the case (hard to say) this TV would fit for sure.

What happens when the TV comes broken. Do I need to send it back to Dell or call Samsung? cuz an 80 pounds package must be crazy expensive to ship back.

log into your account, click on "invoice", and then you'll find a waybill number. use that number on www.pilotair.com on the quicktrack bar at the top.

for those of you that were able to get BCB even if you ordered on the phone - how did you do that?

For those not interested in mounting it at all and using the stand, I bought one of these with the Walmart 20% off. I also stacked a 10% employee discount from a friend for a total 30% off, coming to around $60 with tax.

Solid stand with 5 cubbies, 2 cabinets with doors, and holds the 50" well. Matches all our other black crap in our living room too.

True. If you throw Amazon reviews and PE reviews together you seem have about a 50/50 chance of it working. I may not even keep the HT, depends on how it sounds. Thanks.

I just got off the phone with Pilot. The TV delivery is scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Yay!

I'll get the TV 25 days after ordering it. I guess better late than never.
