Folks, I am in the market for a new plasma. Wondering which one to go for, the TCP50X1 or the Samsung 50 inch plasma with FREE Home theater system. Both are tempting deals....however unable to make up my mind Smilie

Panasonic 50 inch plasma(TCP50X1): http://accessories.us.dell.com/sn...u=A2612466

Samsung 50 inch plasma(PN50BHTZ320):http://accessories.us.dell.com/sn...u=A3256426

Your insight will be highly appreciated as I am a little confused on which one to go for.

Thanks!!

Anyone have luck selling their home theater? I was hoping to get $200 back but looks like walmart is making that hard by selling it for $198 in the store (although i dont see it advertised on their website). I am considering just keeping it.
I believe Best Buy has it in their ad this weekend for $199, so I would imagine getting close to $200 would be pretty difficult.

It may be unethical but you could "return" it to Best Buy for a $199 gift card Big Grin

I've done it before...

why do they have such problems with video games? If the images are always moving... makes no sense to me

Because things in videogames like health bars, status stuff, or HUD's are static. They don't move and cause burn-in (which is what I believe your referring to)

I've played Call of Duty with less then 10hours of break in time, and I've had no issue at all with IR or Burn In.

I didn't say this tv was or was not going to get burn in...I was just explaining why people find videogames worse

I kinda got scared after watching a BR movie and the black lines where slightly ghosted. It washed out fast though. Just be careful everyone Smilie. Id say most 2 hour movies will be ok but make sure you watch some full view shows in between Smilie. I seen that 10 hours of a static image will kill the TV Frown. But most others can be washed out. Ive used the burn in disk for 2 hours but really don't trust the DVD player to replay Smilie.

Well finally got mine, pilot delivered DFW area, very nice and professional.

One person though, he used dolly to bring up driveway and then wife said he carried it in. Only got it to the front entry way and left it there. No biggie though, would rather him not try to get it any further.

Set it all up and looks good, I think. Gonna do some twiki readin' now. Good luck to all that are still waiting on there's or had damaged ones.

Still on the fence regarding the burn in DVD, probably will do it though. Couldn't hurt.

Can anyone recommend a decent small home theater with wireless speakers for surround?

Just received the HT, I didn't want to jinx it, but it's the HT-Z520. Opened the box up and everything looked ok, just did not take all of it out (yet). Not sure if I'll keep it since I bought a Yamaha HT HTR-5730 entry level system 4-5 years ago. Not sure of the differences b/w the HT models. Awaiting the TV, it has reached it's in "RECOVERED AT DESTINATION" status.
Mine too was in the "Recovered at Destination" status since yesterday, so I was expecting a phone call from Pilot some time today. Needless to say, it didn't happen, so I actually ended up calling Pilot.

They said they were shipping a lot of stuff this time of year (obviously) but all I needed to do was schedule an appointment, which I promptly did for tomorrow afternoon sometime. Just remember.. if they don't call you don't hesitate to call them!

I'm nervous though.. I've seen 2 of the 3 in this thread that are in my area and they've both been shattered, so I'm curious to see what kind of condition it comes in!

Mine finally arrived today!!! Never got a call, just randomly showed up. The pilot website says it's expected to be delivered on the 24th! The box was banged up on one side, but the delivery dude was cool (wasn't Pilot that delivered, some other random company) and he said he has already noted it on the slip in case it was damaged. From opening up, it looks fine, but I haven't plugged it in yet. I can't wait!!

Good luck to all those who haven't got theirs yet. I know what it's like to be there.

I think these Pilot Issues are related soley on the quality of the local Pilot office...the one here in Birmingham has been prompt about calling and setting up. no complaints here in bham with them.
