Phishing Attacks on July 4th
Greeting Slickdealers,
It has come to our attention that some of our users may have become a target of a simple phishing attack by a site designed to look like SlickDeals.
If on July 4th you clicked on an outgoing link in a GREAT CLIPS - Adult Haircut $6.99 thread, and were greeted by the login prompt, which looked like this:
and you tried to log in at that prompt, your account has been compromised. If your account is still active, please change your password immediately by clicking here. For the handful of accounts that have been banned after being used to post unsolicited spam, please contact us directly with the email you used to register your Slickdeals account and we will restore your access after confirming your information.
Additionally, if you feel like you may be a victim of a different phishing attack or just as good security practice, be sure to change your password.
In the future, please ensure that you're only entering your login information on http://slickdeals.net or http://slickdeals.net/forums/. We will never ask for your login information via an unsolicited PM, email or any other methods. We will also never ask you to log in after clicking any outgoing links on this site. If you are greeted by a login prompt for any outside links, or suspect malicious activity of another type, please do not provide your personal information, and immediately notify the moderators via ModAlert or Contact Us form.
If you suspect a post or site linked in a post is a phishing scam, be sure to alert us with either Mod Alert or the Contact Us link. If you have any further questions, please free to ask in the Site Issues and Suggestions forum or send a private message to one of the moderators.
