Deal Details

I received a Comcast promotion today for their Economy Internet Service $14.99 per month for 12 months. The download speed is up to 1.5 Mbps and upload up to 384 Kbps. There is no contract required. This offer ends 09/19/10. Please see the attached photocopy for the detail.

Please DON'T call the phone number on the flyer as it's a wrong number. Instead, call 1-888-647-6915. You need to pay additional $5/month if you lease the cable modem from Comcast or you can buy a reburbished Linksys CM100-RM cable modem for $29.99 with free shipping:

use coupon code HSRM10 during checkout to save another 10%.

Hmmm, if we already have comcast can we cancel and resubscribe for this price? My high level speed is killing me, like $60/month!!!!!!!!!!!! I may sacrifice a little speed for $45/mo savings.

It's probably for non-preexisting customers only.

The flyer (pdf) attached to OP states "limited to new residential customers."

But is there a buffer period that clears u as a "former customer"? When do they "lose" your records?

That Linksys cable modem... will it work for DSL as well? I think what Comcast is offering is DSL, not cable.

Comcast is cable only. And a Cable Modem will not work for DSL and vice versa.

lol

nope.

Comcast is charging 14.99 for 1.5 Mbps connection on presumably a DOCSIS 3.0 pipe that can actively deliver well over 100 Mbps lol

Last time I looked at the comcast website for new service installs, they wanted $99.99 for installation. There was a do-it-yourself option for $29.99 if you were already subscribed to comcast cable tv.

Doesn't mean you have to but a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, your normal cheapo Linksys or Surfboard DOCSIS 2.0 modem will work fine for that.
