Deal Details

Users on sprintusers.com forums claim sprint reps confirm that Android will be available for SERO and other legacy Sprint plans for a $10/month up-charge (plus an additional $10 for "flagship devices" like evo, epic).

This post [sprintusers.com] begins the discussion which will play out for a while on several forums, but there should be more details to come in a press statement by Sprint, rumored to be released to legacy users on 9/1.

The rumored details:
1) October 1st, the restrictions on legacy plans will be lifted
2) Android will cost $10 extra per month for my plan
3) Evo4G would cost an additional $10 per month, for $50 total ($30+10+10)
4) Information will be printed in upcoming bills
5) Customer care received this information recently, but wasn't supposed to say anything until 2 days ago.

If this is posted in the wrong section please forgive me and move the thread. Thank you for your patience.

hi all,

i am still chugging with a centro on sero 500. i think my contract is technically over. sprint site says i am eligible for $150 off upgrade.

i want to upgrade to evo 3d. is there any more discount off i can get from sprint. when i get the evo and upgrade to the sero $50 plan and re-sign for another 2 years:

1)should i ask for the $70 credit to my account?

2)should i buy the evo3d over the phone or in store? do the echat or 800 customer service have more leeway to give me $$ off for re-signing, versus instore?

3)any other ways to get $$ off in my situation?

4)if a customer new to sprint gets the evo 3d for say, $200, will i be getting the same price as a sprint customer re-signing a 2 yr deal on sero $50 plan?

is the extra $10 premium data charge now applied to some 3g phones like the lg optimus s now. Looks like that may be the case. If so, that is total BS...

This has already been discussed. The SERO $40 and SERO 4G $50 already include the $10 data charge.
aweekapaug didn't mention they were on SERO so it might not pertain to them.

1) Sure, can't hurt to ask. It's unlikely but ask away.

2) I would say call the employee services line (call 888-876-8381) and not the regular tele-sales line. I think you have a better chance with the phone support people and use Echat as your second choice. The odds of you getting more discounts is slim no matter which one you choose. Be prepared to call numerous times if you want to be persistent about it.

3) Don't know what your situation is besides you're on SERO and being out of contract. Maybe you could find somebody else to pay your contract to save money. Stick Out Tongue

4) Yep. Seems like the new customers pay the same price. The only thing about new customers, who are not on SERO or EPRP, can buy at other retail or online stores where they are more likely to find better deals then from Sprint.

It is a sero plan. my mother-in-law upgraded to a optimus s on a sero plan and they told her the new monthly bill would be $50 before taxes. I am also seeing this message on the page I linked...

"This device requires one of our plans with unlimited data and our $10/mo. Premium Data add-on charge."

Isn't the premium data addon charge the prior 4G charge or are you saying this charge is included in the $40 plan (which was how I originally interpreted SEROP)?

The data charge is already included in the $40 plan - that is why it is $40 instead of $30. Would be $50 if the phone was 4G because 4G is an additional $10 surcharge.

My wife has an Optimus S and it is $40 per month. Make sure she calls the SERO phone number as noted in the first post/wiki.

I originally gave her the number to call from the wiki post.. She said she called the SERO line 4 times (and also went to the store which I told her wouldn't be able to help with this) and they all told her it was $50. Weird, I'll have her check her bill when it arrives as I too was under the iimpression (which it sounds like should be correct) that the $40 SEROP plan should cover the optimus s.

Thanks.

Yes, that's the way I understand it. The premium data charge is for 4G. The SEROP $40 line is for having the ability to use an iconic phone (android, bb, etc...).

Oopsy, my bad. I really need to keep track of which thread I'm responding in. Embarrassment

Yeah, that's Sprint for you, no consistency except that they are inconsistent. She'll have to keep trying until she gets the rep that knows their job. You might even want to post what's going on in Russ's blog. He'll respond pretty quickly. You're sure she's calling or at least asking for the employee services line?

That's what she told me but it wasn't me making the call so who knows. I may go the blog route if necessary after the first bill. thanks again for the input.

Damnit...20% employee discount was removed from my account. No more $30 - 20% + taxes/fees.

Time to chuck the Centro.

I'm willing to bet it will eventually be available on SEROP+, with the "+" being another $10 or $20 add on on top of SEROP. Like Android, they may even freeze us out for a year or so just to see how many of us will jump ship to the EPRP plans first.

so will the iphone 4S work on the SEROP / $40 plan since it is only 3G? I am sure the details will be released in the next day or so.
