Deal Details

Last Edited by beancntr August 1, 2010 at 08:22 PM
Users on sprintusers.com forums claim sprint reps confirm that Android will be available for SERO and other legacy Sprint plans for a $10/month up-charge (plus an additional $10 for "flagship devices" like evo, epic).

This post [sprintusers.com] begins the discussion which will play out for a while on several forums, but there should be more details to come in a press statement by Sprint, rumored to be released to legacy users on 9/1.

The rumored details:
1) October 1st, the restrictions on legacy plans will be lifted
2) Android will cost $10 extra per month for my plan
3) Evo4G would cost an additional $10 per month, for $50 total ($30+10+10)
4) Information will be printed in upcoming bills
5) Customer care received this information recently, but wasn't supposed to say anything until 2 days ago.

If this is posted in the wrong section please forgive me and move the thread. Thank you for your patience.

Wow!!! So many posts in this thread just for today. Where did you all come out of the woodwork? wave

That means I have to pay $10 more for SERO to use any phones and another $10 for any 4G phones, SERO 500 becomes $49.00/m not sure it's worth it to switch.
Not true. You can stick with older phones and still pay the $30.

my contract with vz is up late nov.... i'll be willing to give it a shot to see if someone in sales would put me on to the new plan getting an epic
If you don't have a SERO account, don't waste your time trying to get on one. The only way is if you find someone selling their plan. Try eb or cl.

This should be a front page deal today.
Actually, it probably shouldn't be on the front page as it's only for people on SERO and not open to the general public.

My plan contract ends in June 2011. Does anyone know if I can upgrade to Sero Premium now and renew the contract for another two years in order to get the $150 discount?
I think you need to be within three months of the end of your plan to be eligible for the $150 discount. You should be eligible for half that ($75) until then. Why don't you go for the $70 loyalty discount for renewing your contract and then wait for the $150 phone discount in a few months and get a new phone then.

Well here's my story. I have 1 phone on a SERO account and was on the phone all day trying to get another line added, was constantly told that they can no longer offer that plan because it was to old. I had previously bought an Epic 4G at Best Buy the first day they came out for 229.99...knowing that the SERO Premium was coming available on the 1st of Oct. I called Telesales and asked if I could switch my Everything Data Plan over to the SEROP come Oct 1., guy told me I could not because I had bought my phone from a 3rd party vendor. So wanting to take advantage of the SEROP plan I took my phone back (within 30day guarantee) to BB and waited for today to arrive.Today I called Telesales wanting to upgrade to SEROP and also was wanting to add another SERO line to my account but was told I couldnt add another SERO line to my account because they no longer offer it. I said WTF?? I was told the other night I could have up to 10 lines on my plan...was told sorry you were misinformed.would you like to upgrade the one line? I said I'll think about it and hung up.Then got out of my car walked inside a Sprint corp store and boy was that a joke.I was told we cant do nothing for you because we dont have the codes to apply to your account.I said you've heard of the SEROP being made available to account holders like me and he said yes but again we dont have the means here to help you out.So leaving the store all pissed off went home to get back on SD's to see how some folks were able to get another SERO line opened and read that the last success story was 2 weeks ago.I went through pages here and found some numbers to call, picked one and got a hold of "CORY" and told him what I wanted to do and he said sure no problem I 've done a quite a few of these, told me to hang on for a moment. He came back on the line and said I read something here about not adding anymore SERO lines to accounts new policy...he was very apologetic about it saying he could add it but would look bad on his end for going against the new policy, I said dont do something you'd get in trouble for and he was actually bummed he couldn't help me out.I said I still wanna add a everything messaging referral plan(39.99)mo.and he said he'll transfer me to Telesales. So "SHERI" pronounced "SUREE" came on the line and read the notes and I told her what I wanted and she said she can offer me a SEROP on the new second line and I said booya!!I I'm sold..So after spending the majority of the day calling and running around, I got my EPIC 4G coming for my 1st line which is a SEROP($50 including the 4G add on) and I have a Samsung Intercept coming for the secong SEROP minus the 10 because of it being a non 4G phone. So $40 for 500 min/unlimited data/free mobile to mobile/free GPS and txt/pic mail. Im sorry about my long story here but just wanted to share my success with you guys and hoping someone else gets lucky too.wave
Congrats!!! Roll

I emailed Sprint for the $70 credits for my 3 SERO lines out of contract since 09 and received this reply. Any suggestions?

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I am happy to assist you with your
request.

I am sorry but you are not eligible at this time for the $70 service
credit for your lines. Your agreements are all outside the parameters
for this credit. They would need to be either within the last 6 months
of a contract or within 4 months after the end.

All of your lines do qualify at this time for a full upgrade of $150 off
the price of a new phone with a 2 year agreement.

We value your business and appreciate the opportunity to answer your
questions. Please reply to this email or visit sprint.com if we can be
of assistance.

Sincerely,
XXXX

I have had the best luck with live chat. Last time I did this for someone (within the last 2 months) it worked on the first try.

That is NOT correct. And if anybody does receive an unsolicited offer via PM, please mod alert it.

So, you would be willing to leave Verizon and it's comparable $100 plan IF Sprint is nice enough to cut your bill in half and put you on a superior device?

Yeah - eBay and CL will be your best bet. May cost you $150 or so but you make that up in 3 months vs Verizon.

My question is are your lines within the parameters that they told you in order to be eligible? You could try echat or another rep.

No charge for roaming but they can cancel your account for roaming too much, I think it's usually over 50% of the time.
