Deal Details

Users on sprintusers.com forums claim sprint reps confirm that Android will be available for SERO and other legacy Sprint plans for a $10/month up-charge (plus an additional $10 for "flagship devices" like evo, epic).

This post [sprintusers.com] begins the discussion which will play out for a while on several forums, but there should be more details to come in a press statement by Sprint, rumored to be released to legacy users on 9/1.

The rumored details:
1) October 1st, the restrictions on legacy plans will be lifted
2) Android will cost $10 extra per month for my plan
3) Evo4G would cost an additional $10 per month, for $50 total ($30+10+10)
4) Information will be printed in upcoming bills
5) Customer care received this information recently, but wasn't supposed to say anything until 2 days ago.

If this is posted in the wrong section please forgive me and move the thread. Thank you for your patience.

$10 bump over current plan rate just for the ability to use a Google phone. Not exactly something I need and like most, if I were to upgrade I would like the either of the 2 phones that require an additional $10 premium, so it's a $20/mo bump.

Talked to the guys at the a Sprint store about keeping my current SERO plan a couple months ago and was informed I could keep it only if I upgraded to a phone with Windows mobile on it.

My primary phone use is for tethering to my laptop/IPod and voice calls are very much a secondary use for me. I know, I'm for from the norm. ;-)

So I guess I'll be beating my current phone into the ground before upgrading.

it says "3G Android phones can be activated" so does that mean when Windows Phone 7 comes out, it'll work with the original $30/month SERO?

Probably not. We've discussed this a couple times in the major thread here..

...Sprint probably doesn't have any WP7 phones (wow that's redundant..) in their line-up right now so they probably don't have any info. on it.

But you can trust that it's not going to work on the original SERO.

Basically, if me and my wife want to use the evo, (we both are on sero), it will cost us an extra $40 a month. $480 a year to just use a damn device. Its good sprint is giving us options. However, I am not to giddy. The sprint everything plan is 69.99. Those on sero would be paying $59.99 to use the evo and limited to 500 mins. Doesnt seem to slick.

However, maybe getting a simple android (Ie. the hero) for the wife and paying an additional 10 a month is not so bad.

I'm more than happy with TP2 so I will keep that for $30. I'm just curious though if you get an android phone for $40 a month do you have the option to switch back to a windows phone for $30?

Why would the EVO cost SERO an extra $30/month? I was thinking an extra $20. $10 for android and $10 fee for EVO.

This is pretty cool. Right now my bill is like $32ish after they add in their admin costs. I will probably jump on this once the right phone comes out - like a thinner Evo or something along the lines of the DroidX.

Uh no. That's SERO Premium 1250. SERO 500 with Evo would be $50 max.

My mistake. But still from 30 to 50, is 20 bucks a month.

So $50 a month for 500 mins vs $69 for unlimited everything?

Again with the questions...we've discussed these same questions over and over the past 3 months here..

...SERO started in Deal Talk @ SD and has always been part of it....I'm sure all of you remember Malyshka during the golden days of SERO. So no excuse for SERO users about "I would have never known blah blah Hot Deals"..you would have never known about SERO in the first place then...

$30 plan will stick around "as long as the plan code is available"...so you can downgrade.

WTF are you guys getting these numbers?

Simple 3 tier line-up
1.) SERO 500 @ $30 (What you have now), no Android/WebOS devices etc.
2.) SERO Premium @ $40 all devices except those with 4G.
3.) Those with 4G have the $10 fee that is applicable across all sprint plans...this is not just a SERO thing. It would show up on your bill as
"SERO Premium - $40
"$10 Premium Data add-on"
..for a total of $50.

If you have 1250 then it's $9.99 more around...$49.99 SERO Premium, $59.99 with $10 fee?

Everyone got it? Good.
