What kind of hard drive does the new slim Xbox 360 have?

Thread Details

I pulled out the one that my buddy bought and it doesn't look like a regular notebook harddrive but I could be wrong.

It can't be solid state, can it?

they are normal laptop sized hard drive (which is a 2.5" drive) with the fist set looking like they're all Hitachi drives

You can use the original 360 hard drives as well. Just need to buy an enclosure for the slim.

you can do that as long as you don't have a risk of movement
the HDD isn't secure in the slot, so you need to put an insert to hold it in place, or spend $5 bucks on an enclosure

Iagree I bought 3 from eBay for like $3.50 a piece...well worth the effort / 10 seconds it takes to put it into your console securely.

Dontknow I doubt it though. The HDD was...got it for $50 a couple years back as the only thing I've ever bough from Woot.
