a few things that are interesting...

"When making a return for a product that had a coupon attached, RA cannot refund cash for the value of the coupon and cannote return the coupon that was used"

Does that mean RA would give RA store credit back for the q amount, or would the customer lose that amount but RA still gets credit for it from the Manufacturer?

Secondly...

No more than one "48" RA Value coupon, one "49" RA Manufacturer coupon, and one "5" manufacturer coupon can be used on a single item.

Meaning one VV + In AD + MQ on one item?
Aren't mq coded "5" or "9" ?

Thanks for the policy..Looks like the q usage on BOGO sale has changed. It says 2 coupons can be used on the purchased of 2 products in a BOGO sale. So its not going to be 1 RA+1 MQ for each item purchased then.

I wish the line on multiple coupons was a bit more clearer and it said we can use multiple coupons and those have to be adjusted to not exceed selling price of item. The nazi SM would probably interpret the bolded as we cannot use the second q since it exceeds the selling price (like for bengay this week - $4.39 with wellness discount - $3 in-ad q, $2 MQ), and she won't adjust the q per the other line in the policy.

Multiple Coupons
More than one coupon can be used on the purchase of a single item under the following conditions:
o All coupons match the ltem being purchased.
o The total of the coupons is equal to or less than the selling price of the Item before sales tax
o No more than one "48" Rite Aid valuable coupon, one "49" Rite Aid Manufacturer coupon, and one "5" Manufacturer coupon can he used on a single item.

Thanks so much for posting this! It is very clear and detailed. I don't see any grey areas. I really like that they defined that up to 3 coupons can be used per item.

WOOOHOOOO For RA....FINALLY!!!!!! I can't really see anything they missed covering! They'll probably scrutinize the q's with each item to make sure we're not getting any "overage"...but I'll take that ding with all the clarity the rest of the policy brings to light.

One more thing this policy contradicts is the use of VV with in-ad q's. I just checked the in-ad zegrid q and the VV zegrid q and both start with RC49. And in that June 6th-12th, 2010 ad they say we can use both. I wonder what Carrie has to say to this one

VV $$/$$ start with RC48
VV individual item coupons start with RC49
In-ad q's start with RC49 (eg: the zegrid, motrin 7/18-7/24/10) or RC48 (eg: Ace from week 7/25-8/1/10)
Wellness q's start with RC48
RA mailer q's, balloon q's, RA PG book q's start with RC49

yep, i also noticed that they only said beginning with "5" for the manufacturer coupon, but there are "9" coupons which tend to beep in drugstores since they are usually coded for use in grocery stores for doubling or not doubling purposes i believe.

i'm sure stores will find "loopholes" to question the new policy, but from talking to the DM, it sounded like they are "trying" to retrain everyone on the coupon usage because "there are so many different coupons" being offered from RA alone. he said managers, associates and loss prevention are afraid of the fact that so many coupons are being used and looks to be unbelievable for anyone to leave the store paying almost nothing for $30-40 worth of goods.

Not necessarily. VV+IN-AD+MQ - only if the IN-AD starts with RC48. Most of the time it starts with RC49, which means the 3 q for 1 item will be a rarity. We need Carrie's intake on this one.

And yup, MQ start with 5 or 9. Does this mean they exclude all MQs starting with 9

No...it means you will only get back what you pay OOP for the whole transaction....a lot of stores are going this route. It's technically "coupon fraud" (at least that's what I was told) to buy something using a coupon, then return it and expect to get the full value for the item back. Loss Prevention gets all over this kind of stuff b/c it's how people commit major coupon fraud. That's one reason they ask for your info when you do a return. My local Acme started this with me and I know it's Target's policy too. Secondly... I am still confused by this then I guess...I always thought the same rules for any individual item on sale applied for those on BOGO special...if you can use up to 3 q's on any given sale on one item, then you should be able to use 3 on items that are on a BOGO. I read it to mean it was just clarifying that 2 "sets" of coupons can be used on a BOGO sale and that the sale shouldn't imply that the one that's "free" isn't able to have coupons used against it.
