Thread Details

The silicone case I got fit perfectly on my Iphone 3gs. Dollar Trees seem to vary in the same town from one to another. But, with the going price at Marshalls $7 etc. I thought this was a great price.
They also have Griffin cases for the Nano (the small one). Each Dollar tree has different stock.

Cases for iPhone 4 and 3GS go for around a dollar on eBay as well. Most likely the same quality. I got a jelly case for my iPhone 4 a couple of weeks ago for $1.50 lol quality was pretty good. I wonder how people make money like that.

Dude, I ordered a retractable cable shipped from China for 50 cents. I can barely mail a letter next door for that. How do they give me a cable and ship it around the world and make a profit is beyond me. They are Chinese though so are masters at capitalism.

It's amazing. I got one for 99 cents and free shipping from China on ebay too and it's just as nice as any $20 case. How do they do it?

I'm more inclined to ask how the companies that are based in the US try to rape the consumer and charge 1000% markup.

Because the exchange rate has been fixed (set by the Chinese gov't) for a long ass time. It may change soon though. This is basic econ

What does the exchange rate have to do with anything? Regardless whether it's 50 cents or 3 yuan, it's still amazing that they can do all that and make a profit. 3 yuan in China will buy you a 10th of a cup of coffee. By the way, the exchange rate hasn't been fixed in years. It floats. Not a lot, but it still floats. If they let it go completely, the dollar would do what the Argentina peso did 10 years ago. Americans would wake up to find that their effective net worth got chopped in half because that's how much the dollar would have dropped in value against the yuan. There will be a big warning this is about to happen. China will start selling off their US bonds like crazy. Why hold on to an asset that's about to be cut in half? That alone would tank the dollar. Which would lead to the Japanese doing the same. Maybe we shouldn't be pressuring the Chinese to let the yuan float.

I'm inclined to ask how the term rape can be used when it comes to making money.
