msi a6200 webcam not working

wolf30 15 10 August 14, 2010 at 10:12 AM
I just bought this laptop from walmart yesterday. The model is a6200. The webcam is not working on my machine. After pressing fn +f6 and opening up the programs arcsoft webcam companion and msn, I see nothing being displayed on the screen. Its just a black screen. I see a red light lit up beside the camera but nothing is shown on the screen. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have this laptop, I bought it Sunday from Office Depot. I had to press the function key to enable the webcam, and a light came on down below the touchpad. I would try pressing the key combo again and also see if the webcam shows up in device manager when it is supposedly enabled.

Which light was turned on at the bottom of the touchpad? I see three lights that are on plus a blinking one beside the one with the 1 on top. I checked the device manager and it says it is working properly. I tried to update the drivers and it said it was the most current. I also tried to disable and reenable it but it still doesn't work. When the webcam is turned on, it displays a webcam picture on my computer on the far right side. Also how do I turn on the mic on this?

Sorry, I just tested this and I was thinking of the Wifi button (FN+F8). That turns a green light on and off at the bottom. When I do FN+F6 for the Webcam there is no light, but Windows makes the device connected/disconnected sound like plugging in a USB drive.

I would suggest you try some other software like Webcam XP, maybe there is a problem with the software you are trying to use...

I exchanged the laptop and the new one seems to be working. So I guess it was a faulty part.
