Used to go to this every year when I lived in NY. Great fun, great people-watching, great entertainment. I miss it Frown

Just curious... I've been to the NY fair several times, but have heard that the Maryland fair is bigger and better. The NY fair is a pretty good show and experience. Is the Maryland show really a lot better? I might take a road trip next year.

Haven't been to the NY one... have been to MD one several times. Others have told me that the PA one is better.

The MD one has about 4 different stages for shows, they usually have pretty good acts (sure there is a renfest touring schedule, so probably ones you've seen before).
Has a jousting field... sure you know how that goes.
Plenty of food and craft vendors.
Plenty of roleplaying dress up people...the 'regulars' seem to hang out at the 3-4 taverns there.
If it rains the place is a muddy mess... also lot's of hilly terrain. Can be a PITA if pushing a little one in a stroller, etc.

It's an 1 1/2 hour drive usually with the traffic (although has taken over 3 hours before). there for me, not sure i'd drive much further than that for it unless your a real renfest junkie.

Been to the NY one in Tuxedo, several times. Definitely prefer the MD Faire. More people in costume (and not quite as much Goth as the NY Faire), and there is more to see and do (and more to buy!)

and yes, a mudbowl if it is rainy--definitely want decent shoes on your feet.

awesome place to take the kids, they really love it. They have these discounts every year for the opening and I always take advantage, thanks OP!
