Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! laugh out loud

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. Smilie

ooooo, I got Nilla wafers for 1.99 a box with store q and I had a 55 cents off bananas wyb nilla wafers mfr q. so 99 cents for box of nilla wafers and how ever many bananas you want to get. The coupon is for the nilla wafers so you would have to still pay for bananas, but you would only have to get one or 2. I'm thinking nanner puddindrool!!!

it never worked for me on milk. I have to ask the cashier to manually put in 1$ . everything else of the O organic worked fine (for me). it will take off 1$ ( or whatever the item price is if it's under 1$ ) from the item itself not on the bottom of the receipt.

I never tried to buy 2 O items in one tran.

It never worked on milk. One time the cashier pushed thru, another time, the cashier couldn't get it to work and scan another coupon instead. There are times it seems to be scanned but it did not. I did not get the discount. So I have to watch every time to make sure it takes off $1 q.

It does not work on milk. Things that worked for me are tea, cereal, pasta.

I was surprised to see Nic get this. If you(s) happen to have the "Add Dairy to your Summer Adventure" booklet, Check out he last page Horizon Milk. It states "Void where regulated ....... or it reduces the price below PMMB minimum price". And in Colorado, Milk is regulated (but stores can mark down stock). That is why in Colorado we never see Milk coupons....

I've been rejected at Denver Wags and Safeway using even OYNO Catalinas when I only have milk...

Something to keep in mind if you are in Colorado Wink

my friend tried to use one with milk. The cashier couldn't get it scanned and then crease the paper in her hands without giving it back to her. I would be angry if she did this to me and I would ask my q back.

I don't know but it is quite likely that they have done something to the q.

Anthonys Pasta is .99 when you buy four or more... Buy 6 packages and use (2) 1/3 blinkies that are right in front of the pasta. Works out to .67 a package. Not free but good enough for me since my kiddos love pasta.

Thanks to the OP of the free Nivea lip balm. On sale for .99. Used 2/2 (beeped but pushed thru) for .02 overage. Also free Rightguard (DH will NEVER need deo again...) and more free Ivory bar soap. 3 boxes of free Crystal Light with the 2.00 Viewpoint qs. No beeps on any of the flavors/types.

Betty Crocker Supreme brownie mixes are still $2, so with all 4 EQs and the IP, I earned a dollar by buying two.

Welch's refridgerated juice was just .49, using the SQ and MQ together.

Voskos Greek yogurt is listed in my ad (DC area), but the dairy guy in the store said they don't carry it. Did anyone else around here find it?
