Bummer. Just closed by BofA checking from a previous deal, but it was within the 6 month requirement.

CAREFUL WITH THESE CROOKS. I JUST HAD TO LEAVE THEM, REPEATED ERRORS OF SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS AND FEES FEES FEES. I'VE NEVER PAID A FEE IN MY LIFE!!!!

I've been with BOA for a while now and never had a problem. Never paid a single fee, monthly maintenance or otherwise that I didn't know about. Don't use ATM's other than BOA's though as they have pretty high fees for that. From my experience, if you maintain the required balance they leave you alone.

Nice deal. I would go for it if I didn't already have a checking account with them.

Keep in mind that BofA does a hard credit pull when you open a checking account. And of course you will have to pay income tax on the bonus amount. I'd much rather signup for one of the many lucrative credit card signup bonuses instead of this promo if it's going to cost me an inquiry.

The bonus is in credit card statement credit.
Think that this might not need to pay income tax.

$220 bonus is not a small amount which can beat a lot of credit card promotion bonus.

And if you need to open an BOA checking now, like me, it is really a good deal.

My experience has also been rocky at best with them so if you participate make sure you document everything (calls, amounts, etc.) The last $100 deal for opening up a checking account I had to REMIND them of the bonus because they conveniently lost it in their system but I had screen shots of everything.

Also if you actually plan on using this account know what is and isn't coming with fees. For example, I needed a last minute money order so I went to BoA thinking it would be free (or at least close). Turned out to be a $5 fee on just a $22 money order. Crooks...

Beware: I did this last time around.

I normally pay all my bills from my Wells Fargo account which was linked to autopay my cc bill with BOA. My autopay had been going strong for over 9months... I opened a checking/savings account and received $250 for opening.. and without any notice they canceled my auto pay... and they refuse to let you pay from another banking institution if you have a checking/savings with them. Needless to say, after many calls and credits for everything, I closed my checking/savings since they made it a hassle for me to pay my bill!

If this was the last bank on the planet, they wouldn't get a dime of my money. I'm not anti-business. Just anti BofA.
