PS3 Pre 3.21 firmware update?

I have a PS3 I use to run Linux. All Sony firmware updates 3.21 and above disable the OtherOS feature.

My hard drive in the system crapped out and now the system is telling me I need install media for system software 2.80 or newer.

The only thing I find on Sony's site is 3.41 which will hose my reason for owning this system - running linux on Cell BE.

-Kratos- Maximum Scowl Factor Member sinceAug 2007 Posts12,101 Location-_-V Reputation 587 Followers 1 + Give Rep	I think uncharted 2 should have an update between 2.8 and 3.21... not positive but when I went to florida last year and took that game the ps3 at the house we stayed at was never taken online and my disc updated their system. I'm pretty sure the firmware version was in that range..

if he put it on a thumb drive do you think it would update?

If you want to give that a shot OP, take your pick of firmware here: http://www.ps3news.com/forums/dow...o=cat&id=8

To manually install, create a file on your usb memory stick called "PS3" then create a folder inside that called "Update" then put the update you downloaded into the update folder and plug it into your ps3. Then go to system, update on your ps3 xmb and it should recognize it.
