Target Thread Rules:

  • Do not ask (even in a covert way) for any coupon that has been scanned or discuss any coupon that is not used for its intended purpose. This goes for ALL scanned – this is what ALTERED means – this will cause this thread to shut down, per Moderator warning.
  • Do not post directly to Ebay auctions. It is considered self-promotion because the mods don’t have a way to verify if you are the seller or not.
  • Do not discuss or promote unethical and/or illegal activities with coupons or GCs (i.e. using expired coupons, using fake coupons, etc). Do not post expired coupons. Do not discuss ways to use expired manufacturer’s coupons (Clarification of this rule can be found here.)
  • Do not discuss ways to misuse the true intent of a manufacturer coupon.
  • Target.com has changed to the E-Centives coupon printing system where you have to download special software that keeps track of what you printed, like bricks coupons. The coupons print out directly to your printer. The manufacturer coupons printed from the Target.com website can NOT be posted here as they have a unique serial number above the right hand barcode. Target coupons printed from sites such as RedPlum are also now individually encoded and can NOT be posted here as well. If a Target coupon (such as those currently from Target.com) is not individually coded, it can be posted here.
  • In keeping with SD rules, multiple per pages (MPPs) must be hosted off site, such as with google docs.
  • Finally - Mod Alert any fighting! The mods would rather catch it in the beginning, versus going back 5 pages to see what happened.

Target Coupon Policy - Take a copy of this with you!

Dear Target Guest,

Thanks for asking again about using coupons at Target. Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping at Target, and we make it easy to use them at our stores. But because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target:
  • We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons and manufacturer-issued coupons.
  • We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
  • We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in that case, we'll adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
  • We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
  • All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time of sale.
In addition, Target empowers the store to limit the number of items a guest buys with coupons. We reserve the right to limit purchases to reasonable family-size quantities. Have questions or want more information about using coupons at Target? Check with a Guest Services Team Leader at your local store. You can also give us a call at (800) 440-0680, or visit us on Target.com. Either way, we're here to help!

Thanks for shopping with us. We'll see you again soon at Target.
Sincerely,

Dear Target Guest,

Thanks for writing back regarding our coupon acceptance at Target. When a coupon states one per purchase, and you have more than one, you can use one coupon per item, as each item is considered a purchase and not a transaction.

We always welcome your questions, so if we can assist you in the future, please contact our Target Guest Relations team at (800) 440-0680. You can also speak with a team member at the Guest Services Desk at your local Target store, or visit us on Target.com. Either way, we're here to help!

Thanks for shopping with us. I hope we'll see you again soon at Target.

Other Target Information

1. Mark Down Schedule - Please note that the list may not be entirely accurate, as some stores have reportedly made changes to this schedule and other stores may be days (or weeks) behind schedule!
  • Monday - Electronics, Kids Clothing and Stationary (Cards, GiftWrap, etc.)
  • Tuesday - Domestics, Women's Clothing, Pets and Market (food items)
  • Wednesday - Men's Clothing, Toys, Health and Beauty, Lawn & Garden items
  • Thursday - House Wares, Lingerie, Shoes, Sporting Goods, Movies, Music, Books, Decor and Luggage
  • Friday - Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, & Jewelry
2. Holiday Clearance Schedule Please note that with the last few holidays, stores are not as rigid with this schedule and can be a day or two ahead or behind. Bagged holiday candy is slower to be marked down than other holiday merchandise.
  • 50% off day after holiday for three days
  • 75% off fourth day after holiday for three days
  • 90% off seventh day after holiday for 1-2 days.
3. Target Price Adjustment Policy
  • Target price adjustments can be done for 14 days (excluding clearance). If you purchase an item and it goes on sale within the next 2 weeks, you can take your receipt to Customer Service for a price adjustment.
4. Target Rainchecks
  • If an item you want is out of stock, there should be a little tear off pad with rainchecks. You tear one off and take it to the cashier, tell them the quantity you want, and they will print a raincheck. Please note, current rainchecks do not have a barcode and when you go to use a raincheck, the cashier has to manually type it in rather than scanning a barcode.
5. Coupons Available at Target Computer Kiosks
  • Target.com has switched to using E-Centives coupon printable software that limits and tracks the number of coupons you print and Target coupons can no longer be printed at the in store kiosks because of this.

6. Missed Coupon Policy
Quote from pharmstudent01 View Post :
There's no one answer as to the time frame a missed coupon can be taken off receipt... It depends on the store and the person at customer service. Some stores say till the end of the day. Some stores say 3 days. Some say 1 week. And some say until receipt is valid (90-days) Some don't care (so that would also mean 90-days).
7. Price Matching at Target
  • Target stores will now match prices of other stores with a physical ad of the competing store. Please refer to their official price match policy at their website here [target.com].

8. Out Of Stock Items
  • If an item is out of stock (OOS) on both the shelf and the backroom and needs to be ordered from the warehouse, there will be a small gray dot sticker on the shelf price tag of the item. If there is no gray dot on the shelf price tag, enter the DCPI number into an updated price check scanner to check back room stock of the item. If your store has the old style of scanners, ask a team member to check the stock of the item for you.

9. Contacting Guest Relations
  • (800) 440-0680
  • Guest.Relations@Target.Com
  • Questions, Comments and/or Complaints about Target/Super Target and/or Team Members.
  • When sending a Team Member compliment and/or complaint, keep in mind that ETL's get share-pay bonuses, while Team Members don't. Stores are responsible for store-controlled things like clean restrooms and sales floors, carts and hand baskets available, response time to the jewelry and electronics counters and Guest call buttons, etc. Also, use a different E-mail/name each time, else after 2-3 complaints they just refer you to the Store Team Leader (STL).

Common Abbreviations & Acronyms Throughout the thread, you may find some abbreviations and acronyms that are confusing, as some are very specific to Target. Here are some of the most common you'll see mentioned repeatedly.
  • AC = After Coupon(s) (as in, "I used 4 MQs and 3 TQs, so my total AC was $1.23.")
  • AF = Archer Farms
  • AP = Asset Protection ("Loss Prevention" or LP for many other stores)
  • BC = Before Coupon(s) (as in, "My total BC was $56.78.")
  • BOGO = Buy One, Get One free
  • Blinkie = In store, on aisle coupon dispenser with blinking LED light
  • GSTL = Guest Services Team Leader (Cashier Supervisor)
  • HTH = Hope That Helps
  • INF = Item Not Found. Usually refers to an item that has been on clearance and has been salvaged.
  • LOD = Leader on Duty [like a Manager on Duty (either the store manager or a store asst. manager)
  • MM = Money maker
  • MQ = Manufacturer's Coupon
  • MP = Market Pantry
  • MPP = Multiples Per Page
  • OOP = Out of Pocket
  • OOS = Out of Stock
  • PA = Price Adjustment
  • PM (first meaning) = Private Message
  • PM (second meaning) = Price Match
  • Peelie = Peel away coupon on retail package
  • RP = Redplum
  • Q = Coupon
  • SS = Smart Source
  • TL = Team Lead [a level of Target mgmt. (supervisor, department manager)]
  • TPC = Temporary Price Cut
  • TQ = Target Coupon
  • V = Vendor Coupon
  • YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary (as in, something may or may not work for you)

How do I let someone know they've posted a no-no?
  • If you feel it would be beneficial and helpful to the thread as a whole, go ahead and post an answer. But if you need to correct someone on an etiquette issue or on coupon use, try PM'ing them first. That avoids embarrassment and negative posts. The mods are watching our thread closely--we want to keep things helpful and pleasant.

Here's an important couple of tips.. Smilie

1) Target puts out their own coupons on their website. You can combine Target coupons and use them with manufacturer's coupons. So if you have a Target coupon for Heinz Ketchup for $1.00, and a manufacturer's coupon for Heinz Ketchup for $1.00 - you are allowed to use them both together and get $2.00 off your ketchup purchase. Smilie So check Target's website, I think they put up new coupons every other weekend.

2) You can also find Target coupons in the newspaper. If they aren't in your newspaper, check e*bay and coupon clipper sites - do a search for "Target coupons" and see what comes up. You can also combine these with manufacturer's coupons. Right now there are Target insert/newspaper coupons for $2.00 off Kotex items and there are manufacturer's coupons for $1.00 or $.50 off Kotex items. This makes some of the Kotex items FREE.

3) Check your coupons and make sure that they don't say "excludes trial items" on them. If they don't, you should be able to use them on trial items, potentially getting them FREE. (This varies from store to store, some stores will refuse you.) Not long ago, there were $1.00 Tide detergent coupons, and you could use them on the Tide trial sizes which were $1.00 = FREE Tide.

4) Keep your eyes open for coupons in the actual store. Sometimes Target will have tearpads, peelies, hangtags, etc, that are Target coupons. Again, you can combine them with your manufacturer coupons. Right now there are $1.00 Target Ziplock coupons attached to some Ziplock items in the store + $1.00 Ziplock manufacterer coupons = some pretty cheap darn Ziplock stuff..

5) Watch the Target ads for gift card deals. These are AWESOME. Combined with coupons, sometimes Target will pay YOU to take items off their hands. The last major one I remember was the Venus or Fusion razors.. it was buy two, get a $5 or $10 gift card, I can't remember which. And there were $4 coupons available to use on the razors. Buy two razors, use two $4 coupons and get handed a gift card back.. good deal. woot There's also a Sobe gift card deal coming up, making the Sobe free using coupons.

6) Keep your eyes open for coupons that say "buy x product, get y product free." Then combine those with other coupons. Example: I had coupons for $1.00 off Chinet plates. I also had coupons for FREE Heinz ketchup when you buy Chinet plates. I ALSO had $3 off $15 partyware purchase Target coupon. Combine all those, and I now live in a Chinet fort and take baths in ketchup. Big Grin My skin has never looked so smooth (and tomatoey) and my utility bills have never been so high. (I'm kidding, I'm kidding.. laugh out loud)

Hope that helps out a little bit. We were all new once. Feel free to PM someone when you have a question about something they post here.. if they don't answer, at least you tried, right? And a bunch of people will answer.

Question: Are the C9 TQ's autoing down on all items now ??? TIA
For me, they are auto-ing down for all items under $5 when they don't beep. When they beep and are K1'd, the cashiers have been pushing them through as a full price coupon.

SOME INSIGHT INTO THE TARGET COUPON PROBLEMS thanks to Kerry at Totally Target

THE TUNNEL IS STILL DARK…
So I know that so many of you are extremely frustrated at all the bizarre things the register is doing to your coupons. And I know some of you are downright angry and feel like you’ve had it with using your coupons at Target. I still found the problem on Sunday myself. I brought along a $2/2 Fragrance collection coupon, found 2 clearance 2 oz soy candles for $1.48 each and the coupon scanned it at $1.48. I got a huge apology from the cashier and a prompt correction.

But I realize this is not what happens for all of you and it is a chore to get your remaining .52 cents value on your coupon or you don’t have the time to sit and watch the register like a hawk to make sure all your coupons go through. I respect your decision to avoid the store while this is continuing to go on, but for those of us willing to deal with the couponing calamities until it’s solved, which I do believe it will be, I want to take a minute to help you zero in on the things that most often trigger the register to misread your coupons. I know there are several issues, but there are 3 main ones to watch for:

COUPONS OFF MULTIPLES NOT BEING APPLIED CORRECTLY
If you have a coupon that is $1/2 or $2/3 or what have you, the register does not recognize that the coupon value is off more than one product. This will likely only affect you if the price of a single item is less than the total value of the coupon.

Example of when it will not affect you- Buy 2 Tropicana Orange Juice for $2.99 each, use a $1/2 coupon, and it will take off the full dollar.

Example of when it will affect you: Buy 3 Trident Gum 3-packs ($1.79 each), use a $2/3 coupon and it will likely only take off $1.79. You will have to watch for it, it should be immediately corrected upon request. If it is not, go to GS and ask for a manager. If they still refuse to correct it, call corporate from the store.

P&G COUPONS NOT BEING APPLIED TO THE CORRECT ITEMS
I am not sure why this is happening, but maybe it is something in the coding in this particular company’s coupons that causes the register to misread them. May all be part of the same big problem, but it is another thing to watch for. What happens is the P&G coupons seem to attach to the first available P&G item it finds in the register, not a specific one. For example back in July people bought 1 Pamper’s Wipes at $2.29, and Buy 1 Total Effects Body Wash for $5.79 in the same transaction. When they used the $4/1 Total Effects, it automatically took off $2.29 after mistakenly applying it to the Wipes and automatically adjusting it down. Now the $2/1 Pampers wipes scanned and only gave you $2 more in coupon value, so after a total of $6 in coupon value was used, you would only be credited $4.29 in coupon value.

How you can avoid it: If you are buying 2 P&G items and one item is worth less than the value of the coupon, hand your coupons directly after the item scans. For example, buy Tide Stain Release and then hand your $3/1 Tide STain Release, then buy Pampers and hand over your $1/1 Pampers coupon. Otherwise, that $3/1 Tide Stain Release may be applied to your wipes and automatically adjusted down.

USING COUPONS ON A GIFT CARD DEAL
There have been mixed reports of Target saying they don’t accept coupons on Gift Card deals. In my opinion, this started happening in June, when all of a sudden the register began mysteriously applying an unseen $10 worth of manufacturer’s coupons to items prompting a Gift Card. Now while I don’t know what the final outcome of this whole thing will be, but as of right now, to the best of my knowledge, there is no written policy stating you cannot use a coupon on a Gift Card deal. I believe this not accepting coupons on a Gift Card deal was given as an excuse when the coupons failed to work. When I started hearing reports yesterday of the B1G1 Stayfree not scanning, I quickly realize this mysterious $10 is being applied again. You do not have to cover overage of $10 however, but you will have to cover the overage for your coupon value.

Example of when this will affect you: Buy ONLY 2 Stayfree ($5.29) = $10.58 (-$10 in invisible manufacturer coupons) = .58 cents. If you had a $1/1 it will adjust down to .58 cents, but if you try to use a B1G1, it will not work since the register sees you as only having .58 cents worth of merchandise to use a coupon on.

Example of when this should not affect you: Buy 2 Stayfree ($5.29) and a gallon of milk ($3.09) = $13.67 (-$10 in invisible manufacturer coupons) = $3.67. If you have two $1/1 coupons they both should scan in just fine, but if you try to use a B1G1, it will still not work since the coupon value is $4.49 and the register sees you as only having $3.67 worth of merchandise to use a coupon on. This is what I mean about having enough merchandise to cover the total coupon value you want to use.

Believe me I know this just stinks, and like I said, I respect anyone who is fed up and chooses that they are better off not to deal with it, but to me it is a very unfortunate, temporary wrinkle at a store I love, and I am willing to hang in there as long as it gets ironed out soon.

I went and got several C9 items last night and it took off full $5.00
I had 2 packs of C9 women's socks and 2 C9 coupons.
When the coupon beeped the cashier said it was because I am only allowed to use one C9 coupon.

Don't you just love it when the cashiers make up their own rules? Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) geez

Needless to say, after I paid for that transaction, minus the second pack of socks & I took the second pack of socks and my second Target C9 coupon to another register.

zolar do you know if this is a price reduction? my store has these for $3.99 as of sunday morning...i know there was a target insert coupon two weeks ago for $1.50 tide stain release...combine that with the $1/1 tide stain release from 8/29 p&g and that would be $.49 each....

will put this on my list to look at this week...i hope they cut the prices on those.
I don't think they are on price cut, I think that's just the price on them here.

Unfortunately, the B1G1 Stayfree may just be a problem. I had it rejected yesterday, and my receipt (after coupons) was nearly $70. No problem, however, w/ using coupons on the razors and getting the gift card. I was told you couldn't use coupons with a gift card offer, but no explanation as to why it wasn't that way on ALL gift card offers.

The 5 Qs in the "booklet" are:
1) Bagel Bites = 1$/1 = Exp. 4/30/11 (plenty of time for a possible TQ stack)
2) Pledge Furniture Care products = $1.50/2 = Exp. 11/30/10
3) Pledge Multi Surface product = $0.75/1 = Exp. 11/30/10
4) Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair = $0.75/1 = Exp. 11/30/10
ETA: There's a TQ on Target [Target.com] for the Pet Hair Sweeper = $2/1 = Exp. 10/16/10
I clicked "Household" on the left and it was at the bottom of that first page! (stack would = $2.75 off 1.)
5) Sara Lee pre-sliced meat = 1$/1 = Exp.12/31/10 (states that it cannot be combined with any other offer)

Also saw this "booklet" in the Sept. issue of Parenting Early Years. Good thing you posted, don't know why I didn't think to!
