IPS monitors: Viewsonic vs. Dell
I'm thinking of getting an IPS monitor for my graphics work at home. I'm stuck between the Viewsonic VP2365wb which is $290 at Newegg and the Dell U2311H, which is $320 from Dell (though, it was $290 yesterday, it appears to be off sale). I'm thinking of getting one next month, so I may be able to get a Dell sale. They're both 23" and 1080pI'm wanting to get an IPS monitor for when I do graphics work, such as texturing (for 3D), photography work, vector graphics. The color accuracy at all angles is important to me (my current monitor looks like a different color at the bottom compared to the top due to the angle of view) I'm also getting a 2nd monitor (as I really like dual monitor setups). In this case, I'll get a 23" TN panel for its fast response time, which should be useful for video games and the like. From what I've been reading, neither the Dell nor the Viewsonic are particularly high end as far as absolute IPS quality is concerned. They both have certain issues, such as uneven lighting, some amount of slow response, etc. However, I'm not sure if either is that much better than the other. The ports don't matter that much to me (i.e. Displayport/HDMI). They both have DVI which is what I use in my office. I just can't decide if either has a better panel than the other. Are there any opinions on which monitor is better between the Dell U2311H and the Viewsonic VP2365WB? |

seems to be both are a wash so to speak in comparison
Then it goes to the extra factors. Dell's Ultrasharp 3 warranty service is pretty good, they're prompt in sending you replacements if issues come along.
IF you don't absolutely require 1080p, you may want to see if the Dell 2209WA deal is still alive. http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...?t=11817 The monitor will come out cheaper if the promo is still running, and its a better monitor than the U2311H. Not to mention a plus that its 16:10, but thats a preference thing. I know I was considering getting the 2209WA and downsizing from 1920 X 1200 Samsung T240HD to it because its such an great deal/performing monitor, but that was before i was able to find a Ultrasharp 2407WFP for $240.00 http://www.flatpanelsh Intel i7 2700k | Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z| 16 GB Gskill Ripjaw X | Corsair H80 | 2x EVGA GTX 670 FTW | Crucial M4 256 GB SSD | Samsung F1 1TB | WD Black 2TB | Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB | Seagate Barracuda 3TB | WD Green 2TB | Creative Titanium HD | Sony BD Drive | OCZ ZX850 | CM Storm Trooper | Dell U2711 | Filco Majestouch Linear R Limited Edition | Filco Majestouch 2 Metallic Blue MX Blue | Razer Naga Epic | Creative Gigaworks T40 II | Windows 7 Ultimate

the Viewsonic is very well calibrated out the box. bought one for my mom editing pc build and needed very little tweaking. there's even a "profile" file that you can download that some pro website made. cant remember off hand but you already bought the dell. both are great ips... cant go wrong with either from a enthusiast standpoint.
