what is ACM?

What does (ACM) actually mean? Should I turn it ON or OFF?
I was told that it's a marketing gimmick.

Could you be more specific as to where that setting is located? I've never heard of it.

Keep it off, for goodness sake. No one wants to hear that.

I'm right 97% of the time. Who cares about the other 4%

Judging from the above posts (country music, math, computing machinery), it's become clear to me that enabling the ACM setting slows your computer's ability to perform mathematical calculations by forcing it to listen to country music.

This could be useful when trying to run older PC games, but it would limit you to Deer Hunter and Redneck Rampage. Leave it off!

No, it isn't from country music. It's in my monitor setting ACM (Monitor Contrast Ratio).
What should I do?

I think a poll is in order.

I vote for turning it off. I have no idea what it is, but it doesn't sound like something important.

visual quality is subjective. If it looks worse with it off, turn it on. If you can't tell the difference, turn it off

If you own an ACER monitor, the ACM stands for "Adaptive Contrast Management". It's really just different color profiles for different situations (certain modes show more/less contrast and is brighter, etc.) It's not really as Adaptive (as in having logic) as they make it out to be, but it's because of that mechanism that they claim 40,000:1 contrast ratio :\
