I understand what you are saying, but yeah, that is sometimes beyond the budget of people. And yeah, me mentioning the router with NAT, ok, if you can afford high speed, you could afford a $100 puter I'm sure, but heck, my old router from like '99 had built in NAT. That blocks more than most people realize. Beyond that, you have to actively go to sites or get stuff to attack you, ie. browsing the web.

As to running a newer browser, I know of KernelEx to extend Win98, but can't vouch for it. http://sourceforge.net/projects/kernelex/

BTW NAT isn't an expensive option or firewall setup, it is just Network Address Translation. It is a method to use one external IP address and route to an internal network. The nice part is, if you don't establish the connection, it is difficult for anyone to get into the network from the outside, as all they can see is the router which has your IP address.

I'm also not trying to argue with you, I just have known and still know some people that use antiquated hardware because of financial limitations. I even know people that are still :gasp: on dialup. I have another friend who only uses library computers.
