Shut off the main and replace valve.

Try tightening the nut that goes around the valve shaft. Just enough to stop the leak .Over tightening will make it hard to shut or open valve.

the weird thing is we bought an extra replacement several years back when when replaced it then and i found that in the top of the cabinet. as i remember it was fairly easy and took about 30 minutes. the messy part was getting the last little bit of water out of the tank.

its spraying out of the top where the pressure button is where the back end of the float stem presses on the button to turn off the refill valve.

which is better, the float arm or the up-side-down cup attached to the ball cock valve?

use a sponge for the water. time to buy that dual flush i use the upside down cup since stores around here dont carry parts for the arm type. try what dollar says first
