Comcast double play for $79.99 + tax

im in michigan too, how did you manage to get this? I talked to them a couple of days ago and they wouldnt give me a decent deal at all

i did something very similar to this back in June (macomb, mi), however it was for 89.99 but it also included the phone service. I received a hd-dvr, hd receiver and two digital adapters all free of charge. However about two weeks ago i lost all my hd channels because the package wasn't imputed correctly, or that was what i was told by a comcast rep, and now they are charging me a 8.99 fee a month for a "new technology fee" or a fancy way of saying a hd fee. If i were you i would call that rep and make sure it is the HD DOUBLE PLAY and not the double play preferred (which doesn't include hd).

if it is what i think it is, you must currently be with a different cable provider. I was with WOW cable and switched to comast. But beware comast is very sneaky and will add charges on your bill down the road as they did to me.

Yes i am with ATT.
89.99 triple play is available. I didn't want their phone service so took the double play. I have the sales order and it has HD clearly marked with DVR and $0 for HD/DVR as well.
So if they spring a 8.99 surprise on me, i am going back shopping for a different provider.
I was told this price is guaranteed for 12 months. Fortunately there is competition in my area so i can score a deal some where.

I had same problem as you, however this was a door to door sales rep. He gave me his direct phone # and i can PM that to you if you want, let me know.
The sales rep said if you call their toll free they may or may not give you the deal. But it's worth the try and mention the package.

We did the triple play deal a 2 years ago and there were so many fees and charges that they added on. The salesmen will promise anything. You can call them on it, but they make you call in every six months to have the discounts reapplied. Get a first bill in writing or it won't look like the quote.

hopefully you get lucky and they don't hit you with the charge. I do too have competition in my area but WOW's hd is horrendous and At&t uverse is kinda expensive. they want 7.99 a month for each additional receivers, and charge a 10.00 a month hd fee. As much as i hate comcast they do offer the best value at least for right now. Plus free hbo and starz.

By any chance did the comcast rep give you a flyer at all? If they did can you post it? Thanks

I live in the Bay Area and currently have this deal with Comcast.
I signed up for Comcast double play for $79.99 + tax
You can also add $5 a month to the $79.99 for the cable modem rental fee.
I went and bough my own cable modem to save $5.
After 12 month you would spend enough money to buy the modem any ways, why give comcast the money.
My first 2 months with comcast was hell because they kept charging me for things I was supposed to get with my $79.99 deal. Since you can only get this deal through a 3rd party comcast sales person when I called Comcast to get the charges removed they weren't able to do anything for for me. I had to keep buging the 3rd party person who signed me up to get it fixed. Which he did after 2 months of constant phone calls with comcast and the 3rd party sales person. Since it has been fixed I have not had any problems so far. "Knock on Wood" I have 4 more months left, not sure if they will let me keep this deal for another yr.
I love the service too bad Comcast is so hard to deal with

USually when I see a deal like this, I'll call and then they wont know what I'm talking about, especially when you mention FREE INSTALLATION. In the past few places I lived at, my first bill was always horrendous because they charged for installation, so much for a "package deal price". But like people say, AT&T is terrible and Uverse is SUPER expensive, so Comcast it is!

To DirecTV, never again!

This looks just like the flyer i received, but it didn't offer three option just the one for the triple play.

But look under the "digital tv" list of features. if you look at the fourth one down is says " ADD HD service for the best blah blah blah". This make me believe HD is not included and thats why they tacked on a 8.99 fee. Comcast did go on to say to me that i was signed up for the digital preferred and not the HD preferred package. I would talk to your rep and make sure he notes that HD is included other wise you may be in the same boat as I.

I am getting double play (internet+tv) without DVR for 59.99+$8 HD fee...this definitely looks like a better deal...

This sounds great until you read the small print where the price goes up above $160 after the teaser rate period expires. Why not just pay for internet and get much better service using IPTV such as Netflix (HD Movies streaming and delivered for $11/month) and Hulu and Hulu Plus (free or $10/mth). You can stream using Roku ($60 one-time fee), a PS3, Wii or Xbox and add more (FREE) channels using Playon such as CNN, On-Demand History, TNT, CBS, and TONS more. There's also the free HD OTA channels using a $40 antenna if you have local channels you can receive - HD quality - nice for watching sports..

For Internet, you can stream SD for $15 for 12 months with AT&T DSL 3.0Mbps or HD with 6.0Mbps download speed ($20 for 12 months). Even if you spend $60 for Comcast HSI this is the better way to go. You watch what you want, WHEN YOU want. Comcast Cable TV is boring/overly expensive. If you must have Fox News, MLB Network and NFL Network you can get Sky Angel for $20/month.

The choices are endless. Yes, it's some work setting things up, but not really that difficult, even for a non-techie. Many people are happier with IPTV and spending 1/2 of what they would on the Comcast TV/Internet bundle, without the hassle of always having to change after intro teaser rates.
