I've used the splitfish wired controller and I have 2 gripes. 1. The optical resolution on the mouse seems slow at times but you get used to it. 2. The cord gets in the way. Also be sure to get a gaming mousepad if you are going to buy one.
I still have mine but don't play any shooters anymore. So mines been collecting dust.
I have used the fragfx v1 and the newer one. The v1 worked (sort of) but requires huge amounts of config to get it there, and is different for every game. I got it working well enough on Killzone 2, but was still nowhere near a real mouse. The newest one they released was about the most horrid thing I have ever used to control something. X and Y sensitivity were way off, acceleration was impossible to figure out and the deadspot was a constant pain. It didn't help that the mouse was too small and everything was made of cheap plastic.
I have heard good things about the Fragnstein, but have not tried it. Splitfish products have been so horrible that I just sat down and figured out how to play with a regular controller.
