Ok, we need a few more details here. "Scan channels"? What does that mean to you?

Are you hooked up to an outside antenna, or NO antenna, or cable tv, what? If cable tv, do they have analog channels available to a regular channels scan? Does this tv have an analog tuner (not all new ones do) If cable tv, are you expecting your tv to pick up UNencrypted QAM channels? If so, does this tv set have a QAM tuner, and does your cable company even push UNencrypted QAM channels (not all do)... Is the tv set possibly in a "Showroom mode", that doesn't allow scanning for channels? More info, gets you more help..

Does your other TV pick up channels when connected to that coax cable or is that cable not connected to anything?

the coax wire is connected to the tv from the jack in the wall
i'm not sure if this tv has an analog tuner or even QAM channels..i have comcast cable and i already have a vizio 32" lcd tv that was in my bedroom before but now i have moved it to another room and tv scanned the channels the very first time

the coax cable is running through a wall jack, i know the cable is just fine because my other vizio lcd tv picks up channels just fine
maybe this led tv has a different type of tuner? maybe it needs to be connect through a cable box/decoder?

Your TV is an M260MV? It has ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuner, so it's not the tuner. It can pick up any type of channel.

Did you used to have your other TV hooked up to that same exact jack? I ask, because when I moved into my house, I plugged in the bedroom TV and got no channels because the previous owners had disconnected that cable from the splitter. Took me a little while to figure out the problem.

The other possible problem is that in the tuner menu, you're selecting antenna and not cable.

its the M26MVW and yes i had the other tv hooked on to the same exact jack
matter fact i plugged the other one just in case to check and still picks up the channels while this one doesn't i also tried with both antenna and cable in the tuner and its not working i also tried it in the rooms and it still doesn't work

have you made sure that the cable is plugged firmly into the back?

Other than that, it does sound like it could be the tuner, but it's hard to imagine that it's twice in a row. But if the other TV works with all other variables the same, it has to be either the tuner or a menu setting.

Are you sure you are screwing the cable into the right jack? My vizio has two coax ports not sure what they are labeled.. but only one works as an input.

if it is the tuner then i think i'll return it since both tvs have this problem then i'm sure there will be quite a few problems in the future as well

Ok, your OLD tv set works on that same connection, correct?

You bought a NEW tv, and it doesn't work on that connection, correct?

You then took the NEW tv back to the store, and exchanged it for yet ANOTHER tv, correct?

That exchanged tv set also doesn't work on that same connection, correct?

That doesn't make sense!

IF you supposed that the first new tv set had bad tuners (I doubt it), then it doesn't follow that the exchanged one ALSO has bad tuners. It's real rare for something like this to happen, and for it to happen to you twice in a row, doesn't track. There's something else going on here that you are overlooking. Is it connected to that jack in the wall using the SAME jumper coax from tv set to wall jack as the working tv, or are you using a different cable for some reason? If so, maybe the cable is bad.

Ok, here's their page: http://www.vizio.com/flat-panel-h...260mv.html it's true it has all the tuners it needs, and should work just fine. Did you read the manual first? Did you follow the steps to scan for channels? Did you try to manually punch in the numbers for a channel you know is there (from the other tv) and see if that works? If so, have you then tried calling Vizio support back and asking them?

Hey, try this. I've tried it on a Dish Network receiver that also has a ATSC tuner, and it worked in an odd case like this.

Do a channel scan with NO cable hooked up. This should "zero out" or clear any odd channel info the tv set presently has. Then, hook the cable back up, and do a Cable scan, and see if it makes any difference.
