Find external enclosure for laptop hard drive
My laptop (Compaq Presario F572US) is no longer working and I want to use the internal hard drive as a portable drive. I found conflicting info as I looked it up on different websites. I would appreciate if someone here can help to point me to the correct external enclosure for this drive. TIA I attached a picture of the connection

pull that black part on the end off.
its a direction converter to allow the drive to "drop onto" the contacts. then you can easily see if the drive is an IDE drive (lots of small pins arranged in a pair of rows, or a sata drive two connectors with center plastic parts with contacts on one side. all tech support threads will now be answered with possibly random and false information.

It appears on the label that the picture of the data cable is a SATA cable. And it definitely looks like a SATA power too. Once you get that extra connector off it's a simple process in any external enclosure such as:

What is the model number of the drive? We need to know if it is a SATA drive or IDE/ATA drive.

looks like ide but if you can take a pic at another angle i can tell you. but i bought this one usb 2 sata / ide and it does it all incase the power is the issue Saved a buck or two? From the parts number on the drive itself: 9s1132-020 it is a SATA drive like i said in my last post.
