Deal Details

Must be a Sams member, if not, stop reading here. (they have to scan your Sams membership to complete the purchase)
Use this method to get another $75 in giftcards for the WalMart PS3 deal coming up. If you bought 3 of these then you pay for the PS3 with them and have $75 left in “free” gift cards. Or buy 2 $100s and 1 $40 and only pay tax. You get the idea…...
INSTORE at Sams only, not available online - not available at WalMart.
Expires Dec 26th, 2010
Buy $100 “Gift of Membership” get $25 Giftcard free
Buy $40 “Gift of Membership” get $10 Giftcard free
These are basically giftcards that can be used at Sams or WalMart Stores. I *think* you might be able to use them online with the card number and Pin - but don’t quote me on that.
Locate and take the “Gift of Membership” to the customer service desk to purchase (you cant do this in normal checkout lines) I would suggest the $100 if you are going to make the trip to Sams.
Pay for it, during checkout they should give you a free $25 Giftcard, if you wanted to be nice you can bring that with you to the counter too.
*You can only do this once per transaction, the code they use cant be applied more than once to the same receipt (believe me we tried this many ways), but you can do separate transactions, but don’t hold up the line for everyone else!!
The fine print on the back of the “Gift of Membership” cards says ……..This card can be used for purchase of merchandise at Sams Club or retail WalMart Store.
This has been on the backside of the last two Sams catalogs I got this month so Im surprised no one posted it. They try to scare you with the wording Gift of Membership I guess - but I have personally verified they work on general merchandise.

Many on FW have posted their experience. [fatwallet.com] Both the 100 dollar "gift of membership" and the 25 dollar bonus gift card are standard gift cards that can be used to purchase merchandise.

From zbarnes:
Quote from zbarnes View Post :
As far as any question on whether the $100 "Gift of Membership" card can be used for merchandise, it specifically states that it can directly on the back of the $100 "Gift of Membership" card:
Quote from the Back of the "Gift of Membership" Card :
This card may be used for purchase of merchandise at Sam's Club or any retail format of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. To use for merchandise purchase at Sam's Club, the holder must be a Sam's Club Member or a 10% service fee will apply except where prohibited. This card cannot be redeemed for cash except in those states that require redemption for cash. Lost or stolen cards cannot be replace without original receipt.
Another confusing point is the fine print on the gift offer details sheet:
Quote :
Gift Card offer vaild only for Members purchasing a gift of Membership. Offer cannot be combined with any other offers. Gift Card cannot be used to pay for Membership fee.
I think what they meant there is that the $100 "Gift of Membership" card can be used for Membership Fee and/or Merchandise, but the $25 card they give you can only be used for Merchandise.

I am going to combine this with the $75 card for Xbox 360 deal!

So I buy 2x $100 cards and 2x $40 cards and I will get $70 back, leaving me with a total of $350. Then go to Walmart and buy the Xbox 360 for $299 +Tax (8.25% CA) and get another $75 giftcard. Essentially paying $280 for an Xbox 360 and getting a $75 card and still having $24.84 on one of the $25 giftcards. Almost like getting an Xbox 360 slim for $180!

Not a Sam's Club member? Get a $10 GC for an Advantage Membership (additional freebies for Plus membership). [changingseasonsfcu.com] (saw this at fw)

If you are a college student and interested in becoming a Sam's club member or renewing your membership [samsclub.com], this deal could get pretty slick:
Quote :
Enjoy a $15 Gift Card when you sign up for a Sam's Club Collegiate Membership. Must present a valid student ID and university (.edu) e-mail address at the time of sign-up to qualify for Sam's Club Collegiate Membership.
Quote :
Sign up a friend, get a $10 Gift Card! You can receive a $10 Sam’s Club Gift Card for each referred student you bring to the Club and they join as a Collegiate Member.**

**In order for current Member to receive a $10 Sam’s Club Gift Card, the new Collegiate Member and the current Member must be present at the time of sign-up. Associates are not eligible for the $10 Gift Card offer.
So let's see... Have a willing friend that's a Sam's Club member?
  1. Give them $40 to buy you a "Gift of Membership" card; Sam's gives them back a $40 "Gift of Membership" Card + $10 GC.
  2. Drive your car to the store with the friend.
  3. Using the original $40 "Gift of Membership" Card, have your friend sign you up as a referral under the collegiate membership. You get a membership, a $15 GC, a $10 GC for your friend.
  4. You can be nice and let him keep the $10 GC, or you can punch him and run (this is why you drove your car).
So for $40 original investment, you have gotten an annual membership + $10 GC + $15 GC + $10 GC for your friend (or you, if you punched him)!

That's kind of like a $5 membership.

If you are a college student but don't have a friend who is a member of Sam's club, then you can still score a $40 annual membership + $15 GC for signing up.

Now you can start buying $125 worth of GC's for $100 a piece! Also, 128 rolls of toilet paper in a single package.

If anyone is wondering, a Collegiate membership is the same as an Advantage membership, except you get a $15GC and a coupon booklet for signing up. Just like Advantage, one membership can be used by two people who live in the same residence (you get two membership cards).

Just went to sams at my lunch break, All gift cards were pulled. They had a meeting, noted to me this was being abused, also noted this can only be bought now if you sign the person up for a membership right there, also noted this 100$ cannot be used as a gift card.

I expect to be completely dead by tomorrow morning, just a matter of if they have the notice or not..

EXTREME YMMV

[COLOR="Blue"]I had the same experience in Raleigh, NC (Capital Blvd Sam's). No go at that store.[/COLOR

Does not work at Katy!!!

No go in Michigan!!!!!!!!!

No go in Oklahoma City (Memorial Rd) either Confirmed Working on 12/17. If you were the guy asking for the $100 gift card to get your free $25 that was standing at the second to the end register on the left, you were doing it wrong. I got my 2 member cards and my 2 gift cards (before they put a limit on it).

No go in Torrance/Skypark, as of 12/19 (the "give us the recipient's info so we can sign them up right here" BS)

Just got another one 12/28 in GSO

It appears you are purchasing a NEW membership with Sams. Will they allow an existing member to use it?

There is a fee charged to become a member, is it taken out of the $100?

I don't think the $100 is a GIFT CARD but the fee for a year of their membership
LINK [samsclub.com] to the JOIN SAMS page.

EDIT: OK, I get the part were you say they scare you with the membership wording, so how many times have you used it in store? Did the cashiers say anything or just swipe your card??

This sounds too good to be true because I can get membership for 40$...and make as many transaction as they allow multiple time to buy a bunch of gift card.....so get 25% return on it..

These gift card can easily be sold for 95% value...so for each 100$ gift card one can mae 20$ profit...and also save 40$ by cancelling with first 30 days

Comment??

Yeah, this is definitely $40/$100 towards a Sam's membership..not "Gift cards" in the traditional sense. Unless you plan on renewing or giving gift memberships, don't see much use in this, but nice find.
you definitely cannot read.

these work as regular gift cards -- they state on the back that existing members can simply use them towards renewal or merchandise -- just a fancy gift card.

edit: ListenLoud beat me to it

on a side note, i may just go for this...

$330 for ps3 (including 10% tax here) -175 in giftcards = 155 ps3... hmmm.

OP is right, if you try to enlarge the pic he's posted-on the back of the card it does state it may be used for merchandise at Sams and Walmart. I'll probably double check the back of the cards in store before I try it.

I stand corrected.

Also, it's really amazing that I can't read but can manage to post this.

So this in other words is: buy the regular yearly membership at sams get 10 dollars gift card. Buy the yearly gold or special membership and get 25 dollars gift card. If that is correct then title is misleading.
