Thread Details

For anyone looking to use their Best Buy gift cards to purchase Amazon goods, I just found that you can buy kindle-labeled Amazon gift cards at B&M Best Buy stores. I rarely find any good deals at Best Buy but BB gift cards are still a common gift to receive so I assume some fellow SDers will be in the same boat this holiday.

Going through plasticjungle you'd normally pay $8 commission on $100 exchange, plus you have to send in your card and wait for the exchange by mail. Not a "hot deal" but didn't know where else to post this where shoppers could make use of the info.

Only catch is that the cards are only available in $50 increments, oh and I haven't actually tested the gift cards to make sure you can buy anything at Amazon.

Thank you, so it's not attached to anything paper brochure or box. Just hanging like any other giftcard.

yes...look near the e-reader section..should be along with Nook and Sony e-reader gift cards...attached is an actual scan of the card that I just did.
It even says that it can be used for millions of other items on Amazon.

My store also had $25 cards if that makes a difference for anyone. (See attachment.) My location is Orange County, California.

And yes, I can also confirm that they work with anything that Amazon sells. Just got a Blu-Ray series and some computer memory. woot

Also to put another nail in BB's offerings, I never got any certificate at all from them during the holidays. Nada. They couldn't even find my rewards number in the computer today while buying these. And I can log in online just fine right now. Didn't matter since I never go there except to do something like this. Also, it took them 4 of these cards to get a valid one since they just put invalid cards back on the retail floor. shake head

Sweet! I have $325 worth of BB gift cards just collecting dust. I thought about buying a PS3 with it, but didn't want to pay tax. Great alternative. I'll probably check it out tomorrow.

I was able to use these "amazon kindle" gift cards to purchase a ipod touch with no issues. The remainder balance was credited to my amazon account. easy stuff. Thank you, OP.

Yes, when you log into your amazon account you can add gift cards and amazon will just credit you account and you can use as little or as much of your remaining balance as you want on your purchase

Hi johnsa28,

Can you set the amount you want top use of gift certificates? I had Amazon credit me some promotional credit for the Sony Playstation 3 giftcard discount increasing from $75 to $100, so I received an additional $25 which an Amazon rep, probably in India credited me, I tried
to use that, but it was all (all $25 or none). I have used $25 giftcards of Amazon through my Chase Ultimate Rewards (physical giftcards) and never saw I could specifiy a percentage or part of the giftcard -- it was all or none.

Please tell me how to do this, my wise master... LOL!

I am a sith lord, so you might be my Darth Plageuis... Wait a second, I am the whiz and nobody beats me. I'm the whiz! Ha Ha Ha!

I appreciate your help on this question.

So, are these just like the regular amazon gift cards, where you put the redemption code in and they add the amount to your account and you can use it on basically anything?

These ARE regular Amazon gift cards, the physical cards are just branded as Kindle.
