Thread Details

For anyone looking to use their Best Buy gift cards to purchase Amazon goods, I just found that you can buy kindle-labeled Amazon gift cards at B&M Best Buy stores. I rarely find any good deals at Best Buy but BB gift cards are still a common gift to receive so I assume some fellow SDers will be in the same boat this holiday.

Going through plasticjungle you'd normally pay $8 commission on $100 exchange, plus you have to send in your card and wait for the exchange by mail. Not a "hot deal" but didn't know where else to post this where shoppers could make use of the info.

Only catch is that the cards are only available in $50 increments, oh and I haven't actually tested the gift cards to make sure you can buy anything at Amazon.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

These ARE regular Amazon gift cards, the physical cards are just branded as Kindle.
Thanks. I have some RZ gift certs that expire soon, so turning them into amazon gift cards that never expire will be so much better.

Edit: The BB in Trussville, AL had tons. Maybe because its in the middle of nowhere, but there were both $25 and $50 ones.

They work like a regular amazon gift card. I converted and used $225 tonight.

Thanks OP - Repped

Confirmed...I just bought 8 * $50 from BB and added them to my Amazon account..bought a couple of accessories from Amazon with that balance...

Thanks, OP...you saved me a bunch...$400 worth of Amazon gift cards from BB with 18 month 0% financing...awesome.
I have an existing Amazon gift card balance. Do these Kindle gift cards stack up normally TO that balance as if they were regular Amazon gift cards?

It's been stated before in this thread that yes you can. I did just that yesterday and applied it to a purchase that has not shipped.

Are they supposed to charge you for them?
My Best Buy charged me 3.95 per card (bought 3 to help use my 80 reward zone credit). Had I known they would have charged that much per I could have just bought one pre-paid visa for 80 bucks. Based on reading this thread it does not seem to me people are having to pay for the Amazon cards? There is no price on my card? Either way I intend on returning them and the bluray disc I bought.

that sucks if they charge a fee. i didn't notice it while i was in the store earlier. i can check tomorrow. i'm planning on cashing in my rewards points. i'll be buying some mp3 albums since cloud player was released. amazon also has a lot of oem software not available at best buy. not only will i save money, but shipping is free ($25+ purchase), shipping is faster, i still get rewards zone points, i can take advantage of BB financing if i'm looking for a big purchase, and amazon has a pretty good customer service dept... at least w/ my experience.
