Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! laugh out loud

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. Smilie

Thanks, yes I was able to earn two $10 coupons today for two different $100 MC purchases.

No gas rewards on these though Frown

The coupons are $10 off $10 purchase with a 14 day expiration. Limit 1/day/transaction.

So you can use only one $10 coupon per day?? Is this automatically tracked through your safeway card?

Does this coupon beep at SCO for cashier intervention? Thanks.

I was wondering if I could buy 4 x $25 gift cards and get the $10 catalina? Has anybody tried this? Thanks in advance!

took a while, just got pGreedyid!

got 'em to agree they were WRONG about their shenanigans regarding their price guarantee. The price guarantee DOES apply to JFU errors

so

if item is less that $5 you get difference refunded + get item free
if $5 or over, get difference refunded + $5 gc

You probably don't want to do this because each card has a $5.95 fee so 4 x $5.95=$23.80.

My husband buys these cards anyways in $25 amounts as gifts for employees at his work, so might as well get a cat if we can. So I was wondering if it works or not.

I do not think this will work as the promo seems to be specifically for the $100 and above cards.

BTW, looks like the $10 coupon excludes milk though there is no fine print. I got some cereal
and milk and the coupon only took off the cereal amount. Also, the coupon takes into account
J4U discounts (but not mfr. coupons), so watch the total Smilie

Not sure if it beeps in SCO.

If it works like they have in the past, they will also not work on any of the products that are in the refrigerated doors near the milk, ie the creamer, cold juice, iced coffees. There is a way around this, though.

As an example, if you have 3 $1 coupons for some of the things you are buying, you will need a total of $13 in order to use those coupons and the $10 coupon. you can buy an item from this section that is $3 or less as part of your $13 total.

THEN, give the $10 coupon first. The register will recognize that you have over $10 in product it can apply to and credit you the full amount It will then accept the 3 $1 coupons and you'll owe mere pennies. Wink

Apologize if this has been posted before.

McCormick Parsley Flakes 0.25oz are $1.79 each plus B2G1 at my local Safeway. Using the $2 off McCormick spices (limit 2) coupon from the Thanksgiving insert or J4U = 3 bottles for free. Confirmed at my local Safeway, YMMV.

OR

McCormick Grill Mates Molasses Bacon Seasoning 2.75oz are $1.99 each = 2 bottles for free.

OR

McCormick Gourmet Seasoning Mixes [mccormickgourmet.com] are reportedly $1.99 each = 2 free + $3 catalina moneymaker (wyb 2 McCormick Gourmet) but were not carried by my local Safeways (link includes product locator). <-- deal blogger info, YMMV.

There were also some Red Plum printable coupons for McCormick Gourmet from Sept/Oct that might still be good.
I just tried this and the $2 did not come off the Molasses Bacon seasoning or the Gourmet seasonings. I went through SCO. Other discounts came off, but not the $2/1.

Just curious if anyone else was able to reproduce the Kuner beans deal? thanks

Quote from noella View Post :
Has anyone else purchased the Kuner beans with the $1/5 coupon in the Thanksgiving insert? The beans are on sale for $1 a can. I had that coupon loaded on my card and when the cashier hit enter it brought the price down to $.20/can. I'm not sure what happened but I got 10 more and the same price came up.

I also tried this tonight and it did not work on either of the McCormick items I had. I went to customer service and they wouldn't budge on the price. I also went through self checkout. But my Free Tortilla's didn't come off either, I caught that one before I checked out and the cashier fixed it. Now that I'm thinking about what the cashier at customer service told me it might explain why it didn't work on the tortillas. She said that the register will only take off the sale amount but not the sale amount plus a J4U discount if it would make an item free or owe money back. The free tortilla's say Save Up To 2.99 and the register took a .29 discount for the sale price. I'm still a bit confused but wondering if this is the problem.

I just did this a couple of hours ago and looking at my receipt it did take the beans down to .20. I guess I should of gotten a few more. Smilie

$1.00 catalina wyb 2.

$1.99 x 2 = $3.98
Use 2 - $.60/1
= $1.98 for 2, earn $1

makes them $.49 ea.

Been doing it all week, i wish it was $3. I'd have visited all the stores in my area! Smilie

The free tortillas haven't worked for anyone as far as I know. A mess up on Safeway's part.
