Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! laugh out loud

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. Smilie

Yakisoba are back at 1$ in case you have Qs left.

Also, the SW 5$ off 50 is back at recyclebank in case someone needs it.

I got a few points and printed some right away. Did great.
Got my 9$ in free money for the GC deal then got 56 $ worth of groceries for 7$ incl tax by stacking a 4 off 40 and the 5 off 50. Paid with my free money. No complaints here!

Just bought a 12pk refreshe seltzer ($2.25) and had a $1.75 J4U Q come off it..wasn't expecting that. Anyone know what the Q was? Will take a look at my coupon center but it may be gone since I just used it.
I tried this and it worked for me too, TY!! Repped you earlier for this!
Did not want to chance it with more than one though. My Refreshe Q went through as well, so I did get some O!

The little gift basket sets (basket, bag and filler) are marked down to 2.49 at my store

My offer said," Save $15 when you purchase $100 or more GCs in any combination."
I bought (3) $100 cards and got the $15 discount for each, plus paid an activation fee for each. I was thinking of rolling them and doing it again with a different card, but buying a variable load card and only paying 1 activation fee. Thanks for the info on this. I will try to load it on to a $300 card.
how very odd! good for you! in the other thread, noone got it working past $30, but then again, i dont think they tried 3 x $100.

Just looked at my j4u to see if it updated with the Qs I had used being gone..and the .50 off 12pk refreshe is in fact gone now. I will try 4 (Q is limit 4) tomorrow on DB's card since my card's Q is gone now.
Gotta spread some rep love around first, but Thanks for the follow-up! I don't drink seltzer but I saw on pinterest that this is a trick for fluffy pancakes. At this price, I'm willing to try! bounce

I think people were trying to get an additional discount for multi card packs and /or basket discount. I got neither. My discount was $15/ea $100 card. Possibly, I could have bought more than (3) $100 cards. I looked at it as a one time use offer on as many gift cards as I wanted to buy in that one transaction. But, J4U is always a bit of a gamble. Who needs Vegas!

i suppose its how many cards you have --because if you bought 5 x $100 = $45.25 in profit.
if you were going to roll 5 cards, even your best cashier will be wary.

if you bought a $200 card, 2 cards-2 transactions = $48.10 profit, and its a single card roll.

the offer is not longer available for people who have not added it already.

here's to hoping they offer it one more time in 2 weeks(thats how long the wait was the last time)

I think You could buy a $500 GC and roll it once, using another club card, for a total of $150 in discount minus 2 activation fees (approx $12), if using the variable load card gives a multiple discount.

The only reason I bought 3 GC was because I didn't realize the variable load cards would work. But if it worked for $200, it is likely that it will work for $300 or $500. I am going to try the $300 as I have that amount of gift cards to roll and access to one other club card of a family member.

again, the max for a variable card is $30. some people bought some $300 and $400 and only got $30 off. what you did by buying 3x$100...is a tad different, which worked!
(unless of course that changed in the last 24 hours)

OK, thanks. Maybe I should try a $200 variable load card and a $100 card. Hmmm?

Eta: this conversation prompted me to check my receipt. Damn! I only got $30 discount on the 3 cards. I had assumed it worked on all 3 because I asked the cashier to check to see if it worked, and now I realize that she just assumed if the first one worked, that the rest worked. I bought a lot of other groceries and didn't notice that the total was off. So, (3) $100 gift cards only got a $30 discount. I hope nobody ran out to try this based on my false information. And I will just roll $200 of GC into a variable $200 GC. Thanks for the info.

I have the Mastercard Q loaded and haven't used it yet. I'm a little confused from all the posts. Can someone clarify for me the best way to use it at this point to get the most out of it? I think it's to buy one $200 variable card and get a $30 discount...? Thank you in advance!

Yes, or you can find the post where someone bought 3x$100 and got $45.
