Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! laugh out loud

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. Smilie

Is it just me or did Safeway disable automatic filling when logging in online? Annoying.

Also the back page with J4U coupons no longer show up as $X.XX OFF, just as a price point when they're store coupons. I guess to prevent people from getting money off a personalized price. Stuff like $1 off Listerine and .75 off Fiber One are manufacturer coupons.

In the flyer, on the last page (So. Cal), it says Splenda Sugar Substitute 100ct, Club Price 3.49, Digital coupon -2.00 = Final Price just for U 1.49.
In the coupon section of jfy, there are 2 q's. One for 1.50 off any 80 ct or 3.8oz or larger and a $.50 off Splenda 100 ct.. Are they adding these 2 q's together? Will they both come off?

Ugh, that really sucks. Eh, the only thing I got overlapping is the Deli meatloaf, but I don't think I'd want to buy, test, and eat it.

There is also a "Love It or Its Free" MBG but the hangtag says it expires 12/31/12. The form is still available here [apfco.com]. Not sure how they define "Love" or whether its up to you to decide Smilie At least they don't require the unused portion to be returned like the other MBG I found on a different brand of Safeway Detergent.

Decent deal on Seventh Generation 50z laundry detergent--it's part of the buy 2 save $3 promo. J4U coupons $2 off Seventh Generation, ON ONE (1) BOTTLE OF SEVENTH GENERATION 50 OZ. LIQUID LAUNDRY expires 1/15. I'm not sure when I clipped it. Makes each bottle $3.49. I also have Save 10% on Any Laundry Detergent, but that did not come off. Hope others have better luck!

Take it from me: You definitely do not want the deli meatloaf.

Yesterday I went to Vons , I had loaded the 25 percent off Jimmy Dean frozen foods. I got 1 that was 2.50 and 1 that was 2.99. I also used 2 2 dollar mq's. The 25 percent did not come off. I noticed that the paper q states 15 minimum purchase required, but the electronic q does not have any restrictions listed on it.
I am not sure if that was why the 25 percent did not come off, but I have sneaky suspicion that could have been the culprit. Anybody else have any failures or success with the 25 percent frozen food paper or eq?

Last week, I used the paper q that did not have minimum. But it didn't take off when I bought one Eggo. after I added more, it took off.

So I think those J4U qs have minimum purchase, even it's not indicated

I noticed that my ecoupons say sandwiches & the sandwiches aren't that cheap around here. Also hoping someone has done it, would love if it worked on the cheaper items.

The 25% off EQs among the different products along with the single 25% off paper coupon stacked fine for me. I had well over $15 in other grocery though. Makes for cheap Eggos after the Ibotta credit.
