Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! laugh out loud

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. Smilie

My Von's refused my Fresh Express Salad Kit q because it did not scan. Has anyone gotten this q to scan? I guess Von's has a new policy not to accept q's that do not scan.

Quoting myself because this deal works this week too! Smilie Also works with a $3/$15 produce or 20% produce!
How does that salad deal work in practice with the 20% off J4U?

Can we buy more than one salad in a transaction and still get the 20% off for each salad?

Or are we forced to circle back and buy the salads one-by-one to get the 20% discount?

Oh, yes, you can certainly buy more than one salad. nod

The 20% off will be applied to all your produce items (at least whatever items it's coded for). There are no one-time or one-item limitations to this particular JFU discount.

The 20% discount takes off 20% of all your produce purchase in the same order so no need to do them 1 at a time

Thanks! One time I tried this deal the discount wasn't applied correctly and the checker tried to convince me it was from buying more than one salad.

The 25% off EQs among the different products along with the single 25% off paper coupon stacked fine for me. I had well over $15 in other grocery though. Makes for cheap Eggos after the Ibotta credit.
Thank you for the info and repped! Can you let us know exactly which frozen items you bought in your transaction and their prices? Am wondering if you still need $20 in participating for both to stack, so that after the first j4u 25% discount comes off you will still have $15 left over to apply the in-ad Q to.

ETA - Also, what discounts come off each item? I see there is what looks like a store EQ for 1.50/2 Jimmy Dean. Does this stack with the paper MQ? Will it come off in multiples if you buy 4 or more?

I'm not TJ, but I can answer your question:
The 25%eQs stacked well with the in-ad 25% made some frozen foods a total 50%off. I bought 6 Strudels on sale for $2.50 Total $15 then 25%eQ took off $3.78, the in-ad Q took off another $3.78, then - $1.50 (3x $.50) MQ and $1.50 doubler. So I paid $4.44 oop for 6 of them or 74 cents each. HTH

Luvs are $5 til tomorrow and I had a $1.00 off in my JFU as well. It says one-time but does that still mean I can buy multiples in one transaction and get the $1 off each?

yes. when it say 1 time use, usually all of that same item in that tranny will get $1 off. I am not sure if you buy more than 4-5 though.
