Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! laugh out loud

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. Smilie

Ya, loaded the 2 for $1 coupon in Coupon Center and also used various $/2 coupons (pillsbury.com, everydaysaver.com/kroger and 1/6 SS), our store makes all coupons $1.

Do you have the 10% off yogurt personalized deal on your card? Maybe that's where the -$2 came from?

I found a tearpad on a dorito display at Safeway today for buy 2 family size frito lay brands get one free, family size states 11.5 oz and larger which is the normal size bag of the doritos. Doritos are on sale for $1.99 and the coupon auto deducted $4.29, so got 3 bags for $1.68.

I wonder if I can load $1000 with my credit card to this card just to get the miles. Has anyone tried before? Any fees?
Both my local stores only accept cash when buying ANY prepaid type card.

WOW.. going to check this out on way to superbowl party in a couple minutes...

Also, both local stores give me hell when using any internet Q... "We have been told not to accept coupons with (coupons.com) this barcode." Sometimes Safeway is so assbackwards on customer service, I hate shopping there. But some deals are just too good not to go for it.

Even though the tags said limit 2 on the Digiornos, I bought 3 and all three rang up 3.49. I bought 2 of the pepperoni dipping strips and one italian favorite 3-meat. My j4u auto'ed at 6.99 so I paid 3.48 for all 3 or 1.16 each Big Grin The 3.49 price is one day only, ending today!

Today I bought 3 Digornos but they didn't ring up as $3.49

Reg price $23.97
Card Savings $9.00-
J4U Mfr e cpn $7.01-

Which means they were ringing up at $4.99 each
Should I go to CS tomorrow? Any recourse?

The limit on the $3.49 was supposed to be 2. But there were also others (ie ultimate version) that were $6.99 and others that were $7.99. Seems to me like you got 2 pizzas at 3.49 and 1 at 7.99.

I had something very similar happen. The DiGiorno pizzas were $3.88 in the weekly ad no limit, and 3.49 on Sunday limit 2. My sale ends Tuesday.

I bought 3 of the same pizzas with the B2G1. Receipt looked like this:

3 QTY DiGiorno Supreme

Reg Price 19.47 (6.49 X 3)
Card Savings 6.00 - (The limit two at 3.49)
Mfr Coupon 6.49 - (B2G1 Coupon .. hmmmm)

Fairly certain that when the Sunday sales went in the system, it over rode the weekly sale price and imposed the limit 2.
The third pizza "should" have been $3.88 - not $6.49

Thanks for the posts, this is one I absolutely could not figure out. But, kind of a stretch to go back for the difference when the pizza was free.

Safeway can be a real challenge sometimes.....
