Problems scanning Q's at SCO? First posted here:

Credit for this goes to Skibum - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!) Another great one is available at www.coupontom.com [http]. And the nice thing here, you don't have to register!

This thread has good info on what coupons are available, what insert they were in and the date.

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! laugh out loud

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons. You will also have trouble if you're buying a clearanced product that has the % off tag that has to be scanned.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. Smilie

SAFEWAY SCAN ACCURACY POLICY: First posted here:

I asked for their scan accuracy policy and this is what they replied with:
Also, please find below our scanning accuracy policy at your local Safeway stores:

We guarantee the accuracy of our electronic checkout system. Safeway will give you the item free, if the price on your detailed receipt is different (higher or lower) than indicated in advertisements or shown on the shelf price tag. You will only receive one of the items for free with the remaining items at the correct price.

If the item is on sale and register rings up the regular price, the store will only pay the difference on the item. If a customer is overcharged on a Buy One Get One special, not only will they receive the free item, they will receive the overcharged item free as well. It is subjected to a limit of one.

This does not apply to liquor, tobacco, or fluid milk items. In these cases, you will get the item at the sale price instead of free.
Safeway policy on B1G1F Q usage:

"On Buy One, Get One Free ("BOGO") offers, customer must purchase the first iem to receive the second item free. BOGO offers are not 1/2 price sales. If only a single item purchased, the regular price applies. Manufacturer's coupons may be used on purchased items only -- not on free items."

COUPON SOURCES: (also see S'momma's post #1 above for more info)

JFU DISCOUNTS and COUPONS (Linked to Safeway Club Card)
1) Coupon Center discounts:
a. $X.XX (specific price given) These are the electronic version of the SW in-ad clippable coupons. They are unlimited unless otherwise stated and can be used only once (one-time use).
b. SAVE $X.XX These are manufacturer eCoupons good only on the number of items specified (usually 1) and are one-time use (just like paper MQs)
c. $X.XX OFF These are Safeway eCoupons good on all the specified items in your transaction, unless otherwise stated (i.e. Limit 1, Limit 2, etc.). These coupons are one-time use.

2) Personalized Deals discounts:
a. $X.XX (specific price given) or FREE. These are tailored to a JFU members account. They are unlimited unless otherwise stated and are one-time use.

Important Notes:
Discounts a, b, and c may be stacked and may or may not result in overage.
Paper MQs may be stacked with discounts a and c only.

ELECTRONIC COUPONS
• Shortcuts, Cellfire and other e-coupons can be stacked for use on one item (or more, as specified by the eQ, e.g. $1/2 or $1/4). eQs may also be combined with paper Qs. eQs are one time-use only and should come off your account within 24 hours of redemption (unless there's a glitch).

Shortcuts – Register at www.shortcuts.com with your zipcode or one from the Wiki (see above), and update the profile with your Club Card info. Max number of offers that may be loaded to your card at any time is 75. To view all eQs loaded to your card at once: Click on the "My Coupons" tab >> click on the "Brand" label to sort the list into brand groups alphabetically and then click the "Print" icon on the page (not your browser icon). An preview list will open in a new tab or window rather than an output document. You can simply view and close the page, save to PDF or print to hardcopy.

Cellfire – Register at www.cellfire.com using the same process as above. You may load as many offers as you wish. Click the "Print Shopping List" button to view a single page of all eQs loaded to your card, sorted by brand.

Coupons.com – Register HERE [coupons.com]. Offers may differ from those at Cellfire and Shortcuts.

Softcoin – Register HERE [softcoin.com]. Offers are somewhat different from Shortcuts, Cellfire and coupons.com. More details here.

* Certain eQs are duplicated on both Shortcuts and Cellfire -- and that's a good thing! Big Grin All eQs per like item should come off at once at checkout.

Issues with E-Coupons Not Redeeming? File a dispute in the "contact us" section directly on each particular e-coupon site. You may need to scan your receipt and email it to the company. Please note that shortcuts.com does not have an automatic setup for card-refunding so you will NOT see SAFEWAY or affiliates listed as an optional store in the dispute form. You will need to submit generic contact comments with your store/card/receipt numbers and items and then shortcuts will send you a gift card for the amount you did not receive in e-coupons.

PAPER COUPONS
* Paper Qs may be combined with eQs in the same transaction. Check the following threads for paper Q possibilities:

SW MINIMUM PURCHASE REQUIREMENT POLICY

BOGO COUPONS
• Check the coupon. If the second grouping of numbers ends in "01" it will ask for 1 item so you can use a coupon on the 1 item you are purchasing smoothly, but if it's "14", it will ask for 2 items.

could you tell me where to read the details of this deal?

My info came from the store. I was just walking the aisle and saw the 29 cent price on a tag so checked it out. The signs said buy 3 save 3$ . That's all the info I have. Just check your cleaning aisle and look for the tags. Only specific items are tagged.

Great deal! thanks for the reminder. Boo on the fact that we can only print 2 though. When those coupons were on sale, I think I printed about 10-12 each!

There's a new Kelloggs family reward for 25 free points - just type in xoxo until the letters fill all the code spaces.

My DH really likes the 7UP, Ginger Ale, and Root Beer 10 bottles/cans on sale for 25 cents. I've been buying them with Hallmark - 8 cents here for two after tax. Our mail came with a Safeway glossy flyer of mfg coupons, one of which is $.75 off the 2 liter bottles of these bottles which are 99 cents this week - Hallmark is going to buy some of these for me tomorrow. Meow. Wink

I am not a cat lover. My sister is deathly allergic to cats. When we were growing up we wore each other's clothes and if I ever even touched a cat, she would be ill for days. I learned to stay away from them and, just from habit, mostly still do.

As I said, I am not really a cat lover. (Now CATS are another thing altogether!)

The tiny El Monterey burritos are 50 cents until March 12. I attempted to buy 2 and use the $1 off any El Monterey coupon from last week's Smartsource. It was a big time beeper so my advice is don't try it.
they are 2.50 for 8 pack, which ones are you talking about?

Major beepfest last week for me too. Used it on the $2.49 8 count and it sailed thru. Not cool when it says "any".
It says "any" but has the products qualification listed,

You were trying to buy a small burrito for $0.50 when the coupon specifically has the word "supreme" printed on the coupon.

Found some cheap cleaning items today. Part of a buy 3 save 3 promo. Mr clean premium reusable wipes 6ct., butler ultra scrub bob (kinda like a mesh scrubber) dawn stainless steel scrubbers. After the promo prices they are 29 cents, and 49 cents. They had other items too but most were more expensive. End date was around the 20th I think.

These were in the main cleaning aisle with the mops.
Thanks for info...are the Mr Clean items trail/travel size, I have J4U coupon for Mr. Clean so just wondering.
$0.50 OFF Mr Clean
ONE Mr. Clean Product (excludes trial/travel size)
Offer Type: One-time

Mea culpa. I have another set of coupons and I just now noticed that. FWIW, here's the full list of "supreme" products: http://www.elmonterey.com/mexican...s-supreme/ - none of which I found at my local SFWY.

They aren't travel or trial size. The 2 items I saw are a 6 pk of thin reusable cloths, and a 2 pk of thicker ones. There may be more but I don't know. Will have to check my J4U and see if I have that coupon and try it.

I can confirm that the Kashi in-ad Q double dips with the JFU EQ, so 60% off cereal (and frozen, too), local price: $3.50, down to $1.40 with the double dip. T

Too bad I don't have any q's to make this red-hot. Also be on the lookout for clearance kashi, may turn into money makers with this.
