TMobile prepaid sim locks to phone's IMEI?

So I bought a prepaid TMobile sim and activated it online and all.
During the activation process, it had asked me for the phone's IMEI number so I put it in, so I have it my old Sony's IMEI number cause I was gonna be using the prepaid on it.

Turns out, the SE basically crapped out on me and won't even turn on now even though the battery is fully charged. So I took out the prepaid sim card to put into my unlocked Blackberry to see if I'm getting service and working.

But once it's in the Blackberry, I'm getting no service at all!

So my question is, are the prepaid sim cards locked to the phone's IMEI? Do I have to call TMobile and get it cleared or changed to the new phone?

I haven't had this problem before because I use to be on TMobile and I used it with an unlocked iPhone and didn't have to do anything but switch the sim card...

what does it do when you put it in the original phone that the prepaid sim came with?

I just bought the sim card (no phone came with it) since I already have an unlocked phone to use the prepaid sim with.

It doesn't turn on, I think that the battery is dead. It's about a 3 yr old phone and I was getting the prepaid plan for my granddad to use. I didn't think to turn on the phone prior to using its IMEI number.. >_<

So I just popped the back open and got its IMEI number and activated the prepaid sim. then inserted the sim into it and tried to turn it on but nothing.

After that, I took the prepaid sim back out and put it in my unlocked Blackberry to check and see if the sim is activated and working since I activated it online and registered me a phone number for the sim, but I didn't get any service at all with it in the Blackberry.

The Blackberry's unlocked because I used it while I was abroad in Europe and Asia, so I figured the sim is either still unactivated or locked to the phone I used to activate it...but not too sure anymore

the phone with the dead battery should turn on when the charger is plugged in. if it doesnt then either the charger is bad or the phone is broke.

never heard about a sim being tied to the IMEI of a phone but that might be the case when you just buy the sim.

you could go buy a prepaid t-mobile form the store and see if it works in that phone.

Just because the BB was used internationally does not necessarily mean it is unlocked for USA use.
