Netflix X-High HD on PS3

Found a few X-High HD titles on netflix PS3 streaming... these will probably be in pretty good quality for Xbox and wii as well.

I'm assuming X-High/HD means 1080p (Or the streaming equivalent on netflix)

This is a list of Netflix Watch Instantly titles with 5.1 sound (currently only available for the PS3 player). Since such content was announced in combination with 1080p encodings for the PS3, my theory is that all titles with available 5.1 sound also have available 1080p encodings (which you'll get if bandwidth available on your connection is high enough). I could be wrong--there's currently no way to tell whether you're getting a 1080p video encoding. The Netflix site also lacks a filter for these titles, hence this list, arranged in alphabetical order .

If you know of titles which aren't here, please post them and I'll add them to the list. (I compiled the initial list by laboriously scanning through several hundred title description in the PS3 Netflix player). If you've seen one and have impressions of its PQ and AQ to share, post that and I'll add a link to your post on the line with the title.

I tried some 1080p streaming from Vudu over the break and I gotta say, I was actually pretty impressed. Now if they would only drop the rental price down from $6 or if Netflix actually got rentals on release day then I'd consider a sub.

Yeah, I watched the office last night and it looked the same, if not better than my DVR'd broadcast of it. (Had one saved from last season) Could that really be in 1080p on the ps3 netflix and 720p on broadcast?

the over the air broadcast is 1080p or 1080i. i think cable is limited to 720p becasue of bandwidth limitiations.

its actually sad that basic cable, non-hd stations, look terrible compared to streaming media these days. i'm starting to wonder if cable is doomed to be the next blockbuster, killed by netflix/hulu.

broadcast TV is only 720p or 1080i. AFAIK, there is no major network broadcasting in 1080p yet.

You can check out what's in HD on your PC from the drop-down categories menu though, that's something they need to add to the PS3 app.
