HELP! Canon Pixma $400 rebate rejected for "peeling"

harmonist34 166 January 16, 2011 at 07:40 AM More Amazon Deals
Just got a rebate rejection letter yesterday. They claim the UPC was "peeled rather than cut" for the printer. I remember using a carpet knife to remove it, but I don't think I cut all the way through the box. I'll call first thing Monday and begin the process of fighting. Anybody have any tips?

If it doesn't go smoothly, I'm trying to figure out what actions I can reasonably take. Here's what I've come up with - any other suggestions?

1. Canon customer care
2. Amazon customer care
3. Credit card dispute
4. Secretary of State complaints in applicable states
5. BBB
6. Complaint websites
7. Social media
8. Canon executive phone/email
9. Mail fraud complaint
10. ?

Any help from you experienced folks would be greatly appreciated!

Wow, record turnaround time for receiving the $400 Amex card as it arrived in the mail yesterday. Thanks Canon!

They reject peeled UPCs due to possibility of the UPC code being copied. but i dont see why they would reject it if there is "cardboard" leftover on the back of the peeled UPC. ugh, i hate it when companies try to back out on their deal.

are people still getting issues with real scams and not from missing information?

i've been successful about 5/5 times so far with quick turn around but still sounds scary. just heard about this.
