I googled and saw that there are 4 Albertson's in the city of Riverside. I've only been to one, and am not surprised. Just like ghost town Von's, there is always parking available no matter when I go right next to the entry. I know the weekly ads for Von's on La Sierra (the one vodreaux's co-worker was called unpatriotic at for using coupons) have lower pricing than the regular Von's ads for many sale items, and they keep mailing out Von's cards with 10% off Qs, free milk, eggs, etc. already loaded onto them in efforts to stay afloat. laugh out loud

Is area saturated with supermarkets, Wal-Marts, Targets, Winn-Co etc?

Like I said before, Vons/Pavilions wannabee Whole Foods. At least Pavilions tries to sell high end stuff with prices comparable to Whole Foods or higher.

What killing the Big 3 in so . CA (VONS, RALPHS, Albertsons) is their refusal to get back into the game; the true "DOUBLE COUPON" game! Anyone notice what happened to RALPHS traffic when they did it a few weeks back? VONS and RALPHS both doubled three like coupons, including 1.00's, for decades. They are getting blitzed by the competitive drug stores, who are cannibalizing their general merchandise sales (shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper etc.) ; even the weak link, Rite Aid, has jumped head first into the fray. The “convenience” advantage the supermarkets relied upon has been eliminated and now it comes down to price. They need to go “back to the future” now and start truly “doubling!”

I'm so excited that I finally found a deal to post!!! At least I don't think I've seen it anywhere else in this thread....

Anyhoo...Food4Less is running a P&G promo. You get $4 off your order if you purchase 4 participating products. What's making it so awesome is that the 2pk of Olay bar soap is $1.98. There are $2/1 Qs in the 12/26 PG insert.

Each set of 4 gives you $4 overage.

The upper right corner of the ad says that the overage is to be used on the other non-PG items in your order. Have no idea how they'd enforce that, but I'm extremely happy with the Dreyer's ice cream I got for 78 cents after tax!!!

Do the Olay coupons beep? Wonder if they're part of RALPHS P&G too? TIA

But are they actually able to make money on unlimited double coupons? If what they get in more traffic is more items that are doubled, then I would say no which doesn't help them.

Ralphs lost their niche customers when they went to the point system and eliminated doubles.

Not exactly doubles but ecbs, crts $/$$ grabbed some of those couponers. I know I work milk into my deals at the drug stores and my grocery trips are mostly for veges and occassionally meat on sale and the veges are rarely at the big 3.

Nothing beeped. They all went right through even with the 2 cent difference.

I didn't see Olay listed as part of the Ralphs deal. If it is, I would guess that the starting price is higher which would eat into the overage.

Did anyone have the Blink coupon in their paper? I have two delivered, and it's not in either one. According to Coupon Mom, it should be. Not a big deal, but wondering about Coupon Mom's accuracy and/or the completeness of my inserts ...

Exactly, the big 3 are being cannibalize by Upscale markets, ethnic markets, market catering to health conscious (gluten free), Walmart, Target, Costco and even Fresh N Easy.

Yet, certain big 3 markets are not making it anymore easy. Cough Vons/Pavilions.

Just yesterday, I went to the 99 Ranch in Cerritos. There is a new employee, African American cashier. I ask her, how do you like working here.

Her words, "I used to work at Vons in Downey. I got paid more. Working here, even though I stand out. I am very happy. I get treated like family. I save lots of money on seafood for Gumbo."

My favorite Vons cashier said Vons won't be allowing separate transactions soon, I was buying 2 sets of BC fruit snacks and asked to ring in separate transactions for the $3 onyo.

The Blink coupon was in the 1/2/11 SS (the one with the Sears optical on the front).

The Food4Less on Mission Center Rd. doesn't carry the 2pk of Olay bar soap. Does anyone know of one in San Diego that does?

Albertsons, Ralphs, Vons stores close in I.E. [sbsun.com]
Albertsons said this week it would close its Pomona store, along with its Riverside and Sun City locations, adding to the list of recent closures by major grocery chains in the Inland Empire.
Ralphs at Fourth Street and Vineyard Avenue in Ontario is ceasing operations by late spring. A decade-old Vons in La Verne shuttered last month.

On the SBsun news article, my suggestion is to share your experiences in the comment section. So far, it been pretty negative comments.

4 Albertsons closing. Here is a thought, ever thought the those store could be better managed! A store is as good as the management staff and their employees.
