250 FREE American Airlines AAdvantage miles for signing up Best Western rewards

* Join Best Western Rewards®, our FREE rewards program, and set your earning preference to American Airlines AAdvantage® miles by Apr. 11, 2011 - new members will earn 250 AAdvantage® bonus miles just for joining!
* Be sure to provide your Best Western Rewards® number at check-in and earn 250 AAdvantage® miles on every stay.
* Between February 6 and April 11, 2011, REGISTER for the spring promotion prior to your first stay and earn 500 AAdvantage® bonus miles on your first stay, 750 AAdvantage® bonus miles on your second stay, and 1,000 AAdvantage® bonus miles for each stay thereafter.
* Keep staying and keep earning: There is no limit on the number of bonus miles that can be earned during the Promotion Period.

The free 250 miles is for registering anytime before April 11. You get additional bonus miles if you stay at BW between 2/6-4/11.

Round trip 48 states US, yes. One way is generally 12,500.

Though I prefer to save mine for international trips. 75k to Australia for example.

So if I join as new member I get 250 miles? My AA miles is about to expire in 2 months. This is a great way to extend it right?

Yes, however, it may take up to 6 weeks for you to see credit in your account. You don't want to cut it too close, so you may want to consider another avenue (e.g., AAdvantage shopping mall) to extend miles as well.

Sorry not to be a thread crapper - but how does this qualify as a slick deal? 250 AA points get you nothing since you need at least 12,000 points for a one way flight.
