Cheap web hosting options for a Wordpress blog?

Hi everyone,

I signed up for Dreamhost's $10 for free domain + 1 year of hosting deal last year, and its about to expire. I'm looking for a reliable, and cheap web host to replace Dreamhost.

I run a not-for-profit educational blog. I don't get much traffic - my monthly bandwidth usage is less than 100MB, and the website itself is <50MB. I don't have any plans of scaling up at the moment.

What I need: Wordpress hosting (so PHP 4.3 or higher, MySQL 4.0 or higher, Apache or nginx recommended, but not required). I also use Google Apps to handle all my email - I'd like that function as well.

My domain is currently registered with Dreamhost, but I guess I'll transfer it over to GoDaddy when one of their $1 deals come along.

Ideally, I'd like to pay $1-$2 a month (free is obviously better!) Any recommendations? If not, I'd also appreciate it if you guys can point me to web hosting review sites - most of the ones I found on Google are paid sponsor sites.

You will be very hard pressed to find a decent host that meets those needs for $2 a month. If you up your budget a bit this becomes possible.

I have been with them since April 2010 (SD deal) and no complaints. Most of my websites are running on top of WP (great platform).

Best site for host reviews I found is webhostingtalk.com.

Thanks diabel! This looks good, I've been doing some more digging - anyone have experience with Angryhosting, Hostica or Hostbandit?

They all seem to offer what I need for $1 per month. Sounds like a great price...but not sure what their service is like.

With hosting, you frequently get what you pay for.

I'm not familiar with them but check out the reviews for those guys on WHT.

Personally I would spend $2 for stablehost and know that the service, speed, etc is great.
