As an aside, Newegg have terrible dead pixel policy when compared to Amazon and others.
This review for the monitor in the OP had me thinking:
Pros: Well, it is an Asus brand, so hopefully it will last a while.
Cons: It came with a stuck pixel that is very bright and annoying. Maybe it's my eyes but it seems like the colors aren't very sharp.
Other Thoughts: The stuck pixel is very bright. I feel fortunate, as of the many displays I've had, this is the first with any pixel problem. I was going to buy another cheaper brand, but decided to spend about 30 bucks extra on the Asus, as I've had good luck before with them in the past. Fortunately, this is just going to be a monitor I will be using as a spare/troubleshooting. But I was disappointed, as I thought that this company had tighter quality control. I find it interesting that the return policy is anything OVER 8 dead pixels--that there is an acceptable amount of dead pixels has always amazed me. One is annoying; eight would drive me throw-it-through-a window-crazy.
Electronics purchased from Amazon.com, including items from the Target at Amazon.com store, are easily returned to Amazon.com within 30 days of receipt of shipment via our Online Returns Center. These items must be in new condition with original packaging and accessories. We cannot accept returns of products missing the serial number or UPC; we will not issue refunds for such items.
I'm in the market for a monitor. Am I wrong that Amazon's return policy is a million times better? I couldn't find anything specific about monitors or pixels, but I've returned lots of stuff to Amazon and they may make you pay shipping if you ordered in error, but if it's "defective" they pay return shipping. Also, these guys seem to agree: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1386310
